#8536, "Quest Note idea"

I know that Quest command has been implemented. Unless the quests have incorporated this new quest command, chances are that the command will not show some quests. I don't know if this is for purpose or not.

Anyway, my idea is to have somewhat a quest current journal/diary like a role (up to 9 entries). This is for players to write quest, notes, locations, things they have found that may help them in their quests or whatever. They can also delete the quest entry as they deem fit.

Somewhat like a role function, except for notes for quests or journal.

Eg.
(written entry)
1. Quest for Mother Goose's eggs (need 5)
- Found 1 egg in the Hen coop.
- Found 1 egg in Orc swamp.
- Suspect 1 in Baker's store.

2. Lost child in forest.
No idea what this is. Will take a look at it later as the creatures seem to be quite difficult.

Commands:
quest subject add (from 1 - 9)
quest + (adds line)
quest - (deletes line)
quest add
quest edit <number> (edits the quest entry)
quest delete <number>

Hmmm maybe a notepad would suffice. Bah!

Suggestion 1.

Note to self
Note subject Mother goose quest
Note + Got egg from chicken coop.
Note + ...

etc.

Suggestion two.

Think of some code.

Then use pen and scroll to write down questy stuff on an ic medium, in code, so that if others find it it doesn't give too much away.

It is on purpose. As one example, your character may not be aware that they are even on a quest. As another, we sometimes use "quests" to track long-lasting consequences of character actions, as in "This character did X, so Shopkeeper Y won't deal with him any more."

Anyway, my idea is to have somewhat a quest current journal/diary like a role (up to 9 entries). This is for players to write quest, notes, locations, things they have found that may help them in their quests or whatever. They can also delete the quest entry as they deem fit.

If we're going to pad the size of player files with potentially large blocks of text, it needs to serve a purpose not served by other means. While hard disk space is cheap, the time required to repeatedly load, save, and scan the large number of files we keep is not.

Finally, I'm better served by storing that information on my own computer, rather than on my current character, as I can then recall it with future characters.
