#8428, "APs and whips/flails"

Being gifted in causing suffering to others and themselves, I was wondering what are the chances of APs learning how to wield and use effectively flails and whips in the off-hand?

Sits well with the idea of the class.

Seeing how APs don't get dodge, might help to wield sword in primary, whip in secondary and at least parry a bit better.

Maven alert: to those who reply "yeah, but you can always use shield" -- no AP would switch to this tactics after trying to rank a level or two.

The reason I'm mentioning these is because I find almost no one using lashes of the slaves and/or enervating spirits precisely because these weapons are so poor defensively, where APs are already lacking a lot.

It seems imbalanced to be able to use flails and whips in the off hand.

Lashes of the slave is uber-powerful, and the only drawback is the weakened normal attack. Lashes appears to have been upgraded of late.

Enervating spirits also allows you to slow enemies (from what I've seen), and to do this from your off hand also seems overpowered.

Personally, I think that if you want to take advantage of these damn cool skills, the sacrifice should be your normal melee.

When you have enough charges, lashes seems the best skill in the game, to me. I can't get over how good it can potentially be. The crappy melee makes sense, in this context.

I would not think it balanced to allow axe in main hand, whip in dual wield (much as the idea has appealed to me in the past).

But offensively, they are deadly.

They have the option of necro approach, voker approach, or warrior approach.

So what if they suck defensively?

Offensively, they are deadly.
