#8427, "idea for a paladin/warrior skill "press""
|
You always see people fencing in the movies, and at some point you see them lean in towards each other with their swords crossed. The idea being that someone is going to overpower the other, and maybe push them off balance. I would like to see this as an option for a paladin lagging skill. However here's the drawback. The winner of the press would be decided by weight, strength, and height. So the paladin can "try" to press them to lag them, but if they lose the press, they end up lagging themselves. I think it would be stylish, and maybe even fun to add in a spot where they can trade insults/retorts before the skill goes off.

Are they currently lacking in gamebalance?

At least your justification for the skill. Maybe the paladin could have savage feeding trigger there as well?
PS Sorry, I just couldn't resist that last remark. Makes me think of orc paladins, and that's a pretty funny mental image.

First of all, just overbearing someone with size isn't very paladinly. It might be fine as a sword-spec move, since you were talking about fencing.
Second, storm giant is already viewed as the "best" paladin race by a lot of people. Giving paladins a size-based move is only going to reinforce that.
Third, paladins are very strong as is. They can deal a lot of damage, and they can soak up a lot of damage. The biggest weakness they have is the lack of lagging skills. If you give them some, it will not be particularly balanced.
