#7459, "List of (in-game)Religions"
|
Well, I'm coming back after another long break of RL. Had Lorendrar for a couple of months and had fun with him. Played him for about 5 hours each week and it takes too long to rank up an elf paladin. Anyway he was punching bag for anyone in his early days and could hardly nail a kill. Had many foes convulsing before they managed to flee.
The main question is: I was thinking up of rolling an empowerment character. So... who's new and the list of (in-game)religions? Always preferred to plan and write a character before rolling up one.
PS.It's great to be back. PPS. It's even greater that CF is top 3 while WoW stands mighty in the online gaming circle. Looks like we are still having the fair share of players getting hooked up. Like me.

editing every single one of your posts after someone responds and proves you wrong, why not make it less confusing for readers of the forum who aren't hitting reload every thirty seconds, and simply admit that you're wrong in a seperate post. I realize you're trying to save face by editing your posts, but honestly... Splntrd

He did something nice for Narissa and put up all the immortals and links to helpfiles in a neat little html formatted post so she did not have to bother logging on the game, or knowing the command WIZLIST. How many newbies do you know who come to this forum know wizlist as a command?
When the staff, who could have easily answered this question for the 9 hours it was up with no response, doesn't answer, and a player does in a very nice gestured way, and they get this treatment by the staff, I can see why he decided to spite them and edit that #### out. The least they could have done is say, "Hey thanks, thats easiest, you could also access that information in game through wizlist or put it in the "Search help topics" box. Bamn problem solved. But not problem solved, because they have to be a #### to a person who went out of their way to help another player, in a timely fashion that was quicker than the immortals. No one was proved wrong. The only thing proved here is that some people want to be pricks they can, and people can respond to them being pricks. Oh well, live and learn.

Heres the same thing without curses.
Don't reply to my posts, I don't feel like dealing with your attitude and snide remarks every time I ask a question or help someone out. I try to put forth the effort to be courteous and you can't seem to put forth that same effort. I try to contribute my nugget to the Forums and you want to find a way to argue with me over it.
So if you don't mind, let other people reply to my posts until you can learn a bit of courtesy. And if this or my last post offends you bear in mind you should treat people how you'd like to be treated in return.

- Right now, even if i see someone cheating I dont report it simply because they dont apply the same rules to themselves that they apply to the player base. So #### it.
I'm not sure what leads you to believe this. We've said numerous times on this forum that we won't air our dirty laundry in public. But there are scores of instances where sketchy behavior in the immworld is dealt with internally. No, we're not going to say publicly the who and what of it, but we police ourselves rather vigilantly. One thing you know as an imm is, nobody is bigger than the game. Keeping it running properly is the first priority. If you have a problem with a certain imm, fine. Everyone doesn't always get along. But you should respect the effort that imm puts into making this a wonderful place to spend a few hours/days/months/years/decades.

- yes, i understand that and i agree with it. But that doesnt mean you tell someone who is trying to help your cause in any way, to basically get lost.
Agreed. I don't have all the information on the matter, so I can't comment further.
- Thats not how my report was responded to. The answer was with blatant disregard for *any* of the info i provided, it was a 'stop bothering me' kind of answer and 'no proof/names = nothing'. My concern was as to why some things were let to happen and why certain chars got away with stuff that NONE other could have in their place.
It's our job to be bothered by morts. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. However we try to respond in a polite manner whenever possible. I'm sorry you caught someone on a bad day. We all have them. Some of the immstaff are more blunt than others. But it's our policy to be polite in dealings with morts, and we try to stick to it whenever possible. Yes there are exceptions, and they are regrettable. But also, most of those exceptions are understandable. I'm not speaking to your case in particular, because I don't know the other side. But we always appreciate feedback of the constructive kind.
Thanks, Khas

1) Your comment was the one of being a cock. Narissa said, and I shall quote for you, " So... who's new and the list of (in-game)religions? Always preferred to plan and write a character before rolling up one." Obviously she does not want to login and type wizlist for whatever reasons. He was answering the question at hand, you were not.
2) Take a look at your pantheon formatting, and its absolutely confusing. See http://www.carrionfields.org/display.html?hid=787&osea=religions . How is that going to help someone? I cannot even tell who follows what sphere. Let us also gander at your up to date "Religions" link to the <----- here. Also, not up to date. I would think of anything, that should be the most up to date, seeing as you are sporting it as a direct link in your tool bar on your official website. Thinking that is where people would look first, and most likely stop looking since it looks complete. (guessing Narissa knew this and fell into this trap, but being former immortal knew there was more).
3) Wizlist is the correct command, both ingame and here. He took it a step further and put it in a nicely formatted setup where she could click on names that would bring up the helpfile of every God. I would consider that a pretty nice gesture. Not one that is meant to be received as you did.
4) If said newbie did a search on religions, this post may come up (as well as all your out of date ones too). Said newbie is not going to do a search on wizlist unless he knows the command (which is doubtful). If it did, she would have a nicely formatted thing to look at, as well as follow up thread, that would also come up, stating that the wizlist command is where he got it. Thats if a certain staff member wasn't a prick about it.
Now when a newbie throws in religions or another key word into the search forums. He is not going to find a nicely formatted wizlist setup with a friendly follow up of where the information comes from. He is going to find this thread. He is going to read it, puke, and leave. Most likely uttering something along the lines of, "This is the implementor of the mud? Out of here." Welcome to PR.
5) I don't know what is wrong with extending a little thanks and gratitude to players and individuals who go an extra mile for another player. I did not see you (or any other immortal) jumping all over this post to answer it. It stood up there for 9 + hours before Eskelian answered it. And only then did you decide to take your time and make comments.
6) Isn't this the immortal forums? One would think it is in your best interest to be professional and come across as a friendly individual/immortal/implementor. As well as offer timely and non-prickish help and some amount of thanks to players who do it before you. I think you of all people would understand that the internet is a harsh place that comes across badly despite possibly not being meant like that. I also took your comment as a snide (sp?) remark instead of helpful. Its obvious he did too. Anything wrong, as you are implementor and supposedly a high up representative of this mud, to go the extra 5 seconds and make sure the purpose is not misunderstood. Your best interest.
7) My point is already further supported by your comments in point 2 and point 3 of your post. Heaven for bid one may apologize for the greater good and image of the immortal staff in general. Thanks, I guess, for furthering this view of you and in turn your staff and the mud in general.
8) This is a great game. And if the said newbie who did a search on this subject and brought up this thread. I hope you made it this far, and that you should disregard it as a bad day by an immortal, and come and play. Thanks to both newbie, players, and immortals.

-How or why you and Eskelian find this worthy of writing 20 pages of text is beyond me. I'm inclined to go with #1 here, and I'm more than done with this thread.
You're a clever guy Valg, obviously your remark here wasn't really a huge deal. Its just the fact that it and the link I posted above to the thread about Cry of Thunder are typical. I'd say a good 90% of your posts are like that. What frustrated me wasn't one post, or a dozen posts, but seeing you write hundreds of posts like that. The thread you posted below in reply to bash was a great post, so you're capable of not being a prick, its just that you so frequently choose not to apply that same sense of professionalism. Frequent enough that you've gained a reputation for it.
Now naturally you understand not everything you say is with words alone. Sometimes its whats not written that stands out most clearly. Would Qaledus have made that post if I had not responded to yours? Probably not. Would you have made your post if I had not responded to Narissa's? Undoubtedly not, especially since you posted about a minute after I posted mine. So are you answering Narissa's question or nitpicking my response? You tell me.

I fail to see what was wrong with answering a question. I used the search help topics to post the answer. I just wasn't aware that *gasp* answering someone's question was a sarcasm worthy thing. Considering no one made a post until I answered the question its pretty self evident they had no intention of it except to be smartasses.
But whatever. I blanked out my posts because its not even ####ing worth it.

Heh. There's nothing wrong when you answer a question, but if we tell the guy where you got your answer it's smartass.

My initial post said to do look at help pantheon from the sidebar but the formatting is all screwed up. Wizlist isn't really as nice, IMHO. The thing that irritated me about it was Valg's post moreso than yours, because it was obvious that :
A) He didn't actually read the question. Why post if you can't even take that much time out of your day? B) He was pointing out the obvious to be a smartass (Narissa is an ex-imm, he knows there's help files for it in game). C) He replied in the manner he did in a discourteous and condescending way. Out of the many ways you could have said that one-liner, he picked the method that would come off the most assholish without actually being blatant about it.
Now normally I don't have a problem with teh Valg being a snotball to me, since its not an unusual thing, but in this instance I really thought it was uncalled for.
Here's another example of what I'm talking about.
Here.
Compare that to say, Nepenthe, whose always a professional and courteous class act type of guy.
Call it what you will, but looking at Trabryn's comments on Restraal's PBF you guys can be awfully sensitive too. A little politeness goes a long way, being a borderline prick all the time hasn't help the 'Promote Valg as everyone's best buddy' campaign.
Anyway, long story short, I felt it was unneccessary and that I actually had to defend posting a helpful thing seemed a tad bit ridiculous to me, if Valg had read the initial post it'd be self evident that he wasn't sure if A) He could look up the pantheon/wizlist out of game and B) If it would be accurate and up to date.

And even if you were directing it solely at me, which would be fine, I'm still just a player of the game. I'm not an administrator of the game, implementor, I don't claim to be a nice guy or have any ability or authority to edit and/or delete posts of other people or affect other players really at all.
So while, I'd like to think I'm usually a decent enough lad, I didn't step up into a role that dictates I should or have to be. I also don't have other administrators sticking up for me, and I'm cool with that. I also don't claim to be ignorant of why the posts I make would piss people off. So, if I'm a jackass so be it but I'm not tarnishing anyone's good name with it other than my own.
I agree with you completely, but an administrator represents the game, I only represent myself and I'm not trying to win over any backing. I've written my fair share of 'back off on Valg-hatin' and I'm starting to think maybe I misplaced my personal backing.
