#7240, "How should I learn what my shields do?"

I'm playing an invoker and I want to know the best way to learn what the greater shields do. Is there an easier way than by trying out all seven shields against every form of attack (as if the class weren't tedious enough already)? Perhaps more specific helpfiles would be appropriate? Six of the seven shields are lumped under one helpfile which basically says "they protect you from bashes, throws, and other stuff." Could they be made more like the shield of slime helpfile, which doesn't tell you specifically what it will protect against, but gives you enough information to be able to reason out most of it?

We'll review the helpfiles and see if we can't send a little help
your way. I like the slime one better too.

If you have any helpfile suggestions, you can feel free to send them to help@carrionfields.com (or is it helps@carrionfields.com? ).

According to an earlier post by Valg, it's helps@carrionfields.com. I guess I might have some suggestions, and also some other helpfiles that I think could use clarification. Guess I should get off my butt and write the email already .

I do know more than this, but shield of ice will help you against the axe specs of the world.

Well, I've had two hero invokers prior to my current one, so I'm familiar with the basic stuff like that. But, for example, I only just found out another use for the shield of ice. With my third invoker. It just makes me wonder how much other stuff the shields can protect against. But more importantly, I think the game should promote easier learning of this sort of thing on your own.

You just need to interact with other characters, and you can find this stuff out. It's fairly well known now in most cases.

My objection is that people don't seem to be asking ic to find anything out anymore. Ask in game, and you will be told the answer by 80% or more of the characters friendly to you. At worst you might have to ask five friendly characters.
