But mudlet is free, works on most operating systems (though I couldn't use aliases to set variables on an 8 year old MacBook).

I haven't attempted to use triggers but it is real easy to setup already as systems and group them by class/cabal to turn off/on. If you don't know lua the starter guide gives you how to setup an alias and also how to setup an alias to set a target variable.

#alias target {#var target %0}

Make some alias like:
#alias 1 {bash @target} ---- @ might need to be a $

Use it like: target guy

Or do you mean auto-targetting people when you where?
