#67607, "CF future"
|
Maybe it's cyclical, but it feels like there are not just lower #s recently but also (maybe as a result) a real malaise in the game. It's been a bit boring without people in PK, etc.
My question to the IMMs:
1. What is your assessment of the state of CF and it's near-term future? 2. Is there any discussion of ways to address it? 3. Is there anything the playerbase can do to help?

Yes:
a. Play, b. Get your friends to play, c. In the course of getting your friends to play, don't turn into a stupid perma, d. Don't be a jerk to people in-game, e. Beyond simply not being a jerk, go out of your way to help obvious newbies in-game.
We do it, do it all the time. But it's not enough, we keep loosing more players than bringing new people in.
I still think that we all should somehow collect money and do that old steam idea.

that you should stop playing paladins. That is really bad for CF.

One of the only interesting topic for me since I quit playing for a long time and, up to now, I see no reasons to get back in the game.
>>1. What is your assessment of the state of CF and it's >>near-term future? > >State: not at full health, due almost entirely to low player >count >Near-term future: more of the same
Disapointing response Isildur but I appreciate honesty and the realistic point of view.
>>2. Is there any discussion of ways to address it? > >Yes. Including public discussion on this exact board > Gameplay). There is some lack of agreement.
It would be interesting to resume the different points view; What is the "lack of agreement" about?
>>3. Is there anything the playerbase can do to help? > >Yes: > >a. Play,
Since things that made me quit are still there I see no reason to play.
>b. Get your friends to play,
Since things that made me quit are still there I see no reason to have them play.
>c. In the course of getting your friends to play, don't turn >into a stupid perma, >d. Don't be a jerk to people in-game, >e. Beyond simply not being a jerk, go out of your way to help >obvious newbies in-game.
In two words I still think the problem is not to have new players trying the game: it's the frustration in the PK aspect of CF. The gap between vets and newbie is too big.

As I wrote before, CF is currently aimed at explorers (and was build for last XXX years solely for them). Removing rewards for their main activity and interest, of course, has drawn many of them away. I told it would happen then, and unfortunately, it's happening. I'd be happy to be mistaken, but alas, I'm not (in this particular question, not always).
