#6293, "Physical Sleep Attacks"

I know there was some discussion about this earlier, but I don't recall there ever being an official response, so I thought perhaps there might be one forthcoming.

The question is: what is the rationale (I'm assuming there is, in fact, a reason) behind stun being different from all the other physical knock-out skills?

When you choke someone, you cannot re-choke them immediately.
When you blackjack someone, you cannot immediately blackjack again.
When you cranial someone to sleep, you cannot immediately do so again.

But when you stun someone, you can stun and re-stun and stun yet again, ad infinitum.

Why is that?

Thanks.

One, it's a fair bit str based. Really. Try reducting str on someone sometime and see how well they stun.

Second, saves versus paralysis is never a bad thing to have on a character since you have to worry about choke, blackjack, spinebreaker, AND stun.

Third, lag. You always have the option of countering a cheap escape with permalag.

If you can't effectively make use of any of these options, you have no business trying to put the hand to hand spec you're dealing with in a tight spot under your own power. Use the be all end all solution, gang him.

I'm not sure what game you are playing, but it is not "always" an option to totally deny all of your opponent's commands.

I'm... not sure I agree with any of that, actually, beyond the idea that Stun isn't that bad to deal with.

Then again, what do I know anymore.

One mitigating factor with stun: you can't start combat with it.
