#58920, "Non-Limited Bank Box"

It would be neat if you could get a bank box at the bank to store non-limited items.

Think of it like a sack that stays at the bank for your character. It can only hold a certain number of items, none of which can be limited.

Obviously, it would all be non-limited so no hoarding could take place.

CF today seems more like a game with short windows of the fun activity we all like. Stuff like lots of enemies, raiding, pking, etc. It's a real drag to run out of stuff in the middle of a flurry of activity and have to spend some time running around gathering or buying stuff (assuming the stores are open!).

I know some people think that running your enemy out of preps is a part of the game and I respect that. But let's be honest, alot of people just stop engaging until they've replenished their stuff anyhow. However, in light of this, I would suggest setting the box slot limit fairly low, like around 10 items or something, so running them out would still be possible and it would act more like a one or two stop shop for emergency supplies.

You could also even charge an ongoing fee for the box, so if you don't have the coin to pay for it in your bank account, you lose your things.

It would also make getting your prep sack looted/stolen a lot easier to take.

What do you all think?

I figured I would at least give you some imm response.

After some thought, I could see some uses of this but I am not sure enough to justify the time it would take to implement. I wouldn't want it to hold containers or limited items. I also wouldn't want it to be able to hold many total items, perhaps just enough for a complete set of armor. So it wouldn't be enough space to store many extra preps and at best maybe a regear box but this is already pretty well handled by the outfit command and ghost time to gather what is needed.

The general idea is neat, but I think the time could be better used to do so much more.

... Some areas demands you to have items both limited and none limited that are NOT easy to regather each time. The limited items I get, and they should be, and that's a good part.

So, the none-limited items I tend to carry around in a container. However... If you are playing a low-str high-dex race, you get hampered by this mechanic wise in regards to dodge... And yet, to be able to fully explore some places, you do need to carry it all around all the time.

I see SO many uses for it! I really do hope that you guys reconsider and examine it closely.

Always shoot first and then call whatever you hit the target.

Otherwise it is too easy to trap people in the mausoleum etc.

I understand the man hour deal. It never hurts to throw out an idea.

And for the record if it were implemented I agree with what you said on the how. Although I didn't consider much that it could be used as a place to stash a starter set. It's a good idea. I had in mind more of a place to stash a few extra recall and flight potions etc. maybe a weapon to hit a vuln. Although that got me thinking that it might not be a great thing to have an accessible place to stash various weapons in the lower ranks where non-limited items play a larger role. Maybe a level requirement or something.

Cabal pits are nice for fulfilling the need you talk about. Village even has multiple pits/racks if a number of folk want to keep their stuff separate.

Uncaballed players don't really have the same option. I guess they could use out of the way or non obvious containers (like the trees in ysgrath) to stash stuff but it might be neat if maybe a place that persisted over crashes at a least existed for them in some capacity.

I think overall it would have a positive impact. I find myself spending a huge chunk of time gathering, gold, preps, potions, rinse/repeat when I wish I could be doing the more fun things like interacting or fighting other players. Obviously limits would have to be set but I think this is a great idea.

You can only access the box while you are a ghost.

Otherwise you can avoid risky situations you'd otherwise face. Like going into ysigrath for roots when a ranger or Druid is on. Or shadow grove.,etc.

Also, it would make it too easy to circumvent the limits that low strength or low dex place on you. Being low strength means not being able to lug lots of non limit stuff around, and that means having to gather more regularly. I don't see that those disadvantages should disappear.

Would be cool if it worked something like that. A bit more permanent.
