#58278, "Imperial Law"
|
I'm all for player interpretation of Imperial Law. But I'm curious, what the immortal stance is on this?
I think it's pretty cool if you make the mistake of initiating combat on Imperials outside of town then fine, let'm chase you into town. But instead what I think it's fostering is the 'if Empire hits you outside of town, then Empire gets to finish you inside of town.'
Which I think is just absolute crap because it completely nullifies that law in particular.

It covered one thing and that was if you attack an Imperial they can and will kill you in the city; the city, their city, it is fair game, you cannot hide there.
However, what has actually played out is the Empire attacks you, usually to a number of or greater than 3, and then pursues you even in the city.
Orderly be damned.
If you (council and imm patron) want to play something out that is against 15 years of precedence, cool/great, but at least do it well and show your cards a little bit.

He's a tatted priest and the Empress.
IC everyone basically assumes he's your voice/hand. It's implied you sort of support him, so why come to you trying to badmouth your apparent favorite? (Favorite in character since he's got the Dest juice/tat/leader position, not meant as an ooc favoritism jab)

Doing things IC makes more sense than bringing it to the forum.
It's kind of sad what he says, that not one thing has been attempted in character but instead people flood to the forum first off.

I mean, I figured he either had your approval or he didn't and would soon be smacked for it, so why would I bother praying ic/ooc about it?
And you are getting complaints now because what was said in the note is quite a difference than what is playing out.

Well, you'd pick something that stands up well to being outnumbered. Basically the kind of guy you'd roll for Scarab or Scion.

Yeah, generally... but honestly, do you roll characters for the specific landscape or a specific event that might be gone before you even get close to hero?
I don't, I roll what I want to play. I just can't imagine changing up a role/build idea just to support or deal with a single other character.

Still, Nep's point is correct.
A "hunter" PK-orientated character in Tribunal or in the works ALREADY for Tribunal must be loving this right now.

Low playerbase means they can get away with it without the typical IC consequences.

I mean they can claim Imperial law supercedes all other forms of law but they never ever back it up openly.
On a slightly tangential note, there have been headscratchers about Empire/Trib relations for at least as long as I've played CF: - As an Imperial, having a wanted flag doesn't mean you can start breaking Imperial Law. Gets sorta overlooked by some. - At the same time, Empire tends to assume that a wanted Imperial must have broken Imperial law. Not always the case. - Patrolling guards on Eastern will attack centurions on sight. Here's wishing more Tribs would do that as well. - Tribs are breaking Imperial law all over the place (by attacking wanted people in the city). Nobody ever points that out.
