This is my opinion obviously, but I'm just curious what y'all think on it.

I dunno it just seems this way to me. After playing two giants again for the first time in a good while it seems like their just too cumbersome and clunky to be viable as a character of much enjoyment. Skills like pincer and double thrust miss more frequently then they land. Very rarely seem to swing, let alone land more than two or three blows even when dual wielding. This is with a 40lbs. + weapon, warcry, accuracy potions active and the occasional haste/quicken. Auto skills like riposte, conceal, and others are virtually non-existant even with edges to boost them up. Seemed that way even with my last minotaur as well.

It's like every character with a quicker race I come up against just wipes the floor with me. In a matter of four or five rounds I am in danger of dying if I do not flee.

Anybody have any thoughts on how I might improve on my ability against characters with higher dex and dodge rates? My legacy and hitroll gear just doesn't seem to be doing the trick like it has for me with my previous brutes in the ages past. I've one legacy left, but have not made a choice as I don't really see any for a low dex/intel/wis giant that would tip the scales in my favor.

I believe you must do things to play to your strength.

Examples:

1. Polearms (based on size), axes, or mace
2. Weapon spec that has extra attacks (pincer, boneshatter, chop). You will not hit a drow sword very often with regular attacks but pincer, chop, and such will not miss that often (they will evade some).
3. Legacies that up your damage (chilling or trapping), cover a vulnerability, or take advantage of your hp (whispers)
4. Take edges that make them bleed. The slice edge for example. Remember you have more hp than them.

The key to playing a giant warrior is to remember they are played different. Also high dex warrior are not a great matchup, but I think giant warriors are great against a lot of our classes like bards (bash), shamans (cranial), or assassins (pincer).

Just some thoughts.

Crashing plus greeting.

Those dex builds are not nearly as dangerous once the daggers or swords are out of their hands. At least this way you can limit them to cursed weapons.

For me best thing about giant sword was double thrust and flurry. But at higher level the dex guy is probably eating you with riposte or concealed while you are lagged.

So another option is mace and bone shatter. That may (may) lower their dex.
