#56241, "Toughen skin, corporeal hardening, corporeal softening."

Recently I asked over newbie whether corporeal hardening reduced all incoming melee damage regardless of whether someone was holding a fire sword, divine sword or regular slashing sword. I was told by an immortal that corporeal hardening reducing only physical damage, slashing piercing and bash, nothing else. I was also told to ask here just in case as well but I thought the help files seemed pretty clear, especially considering what I was being told.

According to the help files corporeal softening does the opposite, makes someone vulnerable to physical attacks.True enough this is noticeable with bash, piecing and slashing attacks, however it is also noticeable that other types of melee damage seem to increase as well. For example damage from weapons that do divine damage. I wasn't sure if this was a bug or intended since the help files specifically say physical damage much like corporeal hardening.

So I'm wondering if physical attacks means any type of melee attacks regardless of type of damage it is doing? I found it curious as well that when I used toughen skin the resistances against bash, pierce and slash were clearly shown when you typed aff or score damage, yet corporeal hardening doesn't really show that. Its more akin to other tradition DR messages such as stoneskin, protection, etc in terms of affect message.

I've also been told that corporeal hardening is practically like another stone skin (though I'm guessing for melee attacks (physical damage?) as in attack from a warrior not attacks from an invoker or communes )

Just hoping for some clarification. Thanks

Does corporeal softening/hardening affect only bash, pierce, slash type damage as the help files suggest?

If so, is there any reason why a sword with divine type damage would increase in damage against an enemy after they have been softened?
