#55990, "Favorite Ranger race / terrain / expertise combinations"
|
I was curious if anyone found any specific enjoyment playing certain types of rangers. A while ago I played a Svirfnebli / Cavern / Explorer, and had a fun time with it. Being able to detect invisible was great, along with acute vision. And as an explorer, I found him to be ample tough in the forests too. This character did have a good role, so that may have played a factor too.
Anyways, I've been trying a few other styles of rangers, and was hoping maybe somebody else had some advice, pointers, etc.

Dark-elf, cave/explorer. Just like your first guy, only his shadowstride will work a lot more often and shadowstride is the bee's knees.

i enjoyed that one a lot. shadowstride is far superior to all other evade type skills i've had other than mongoose. was better than flow, swampmire, instincts, etc. rebounding strike made up for lack of offense, snare, cavernfall, and wolf kin rocked. only downside was the lack of action in caves.
i'd like to try felar cave beast berserker and see nasty deathblow + predators stance.
i wish a huge tree would fall in ashes of nowhere, blocking the desert piece and forcing characters to either walk around or go down into the cave and back up. and i wish the Chasm had a cave room. and stupid battlefield is all outdoor caves instead of indoor.

Did you shadowstride outside of caves still? Always wondered if that was the explorer bit or if all cave dwellers can do it outside.
