#55737, "Edge option"

Ever consider giving felars an edge for a special form much like you did with elf/drow to give them some appeal?

Highest CON and probably most HP for a good or evil shifter, stats that are poor are stats you don't really care about.

I can only say that I have played felar shifter and I would again.
I have had a couple ideas of edges I might write for them someday (e.g., you can get cat as a form even if you didn't roll it, or whatever) but I don't see them as (mechanically) unplayable as I saw elf/d-elf.

The minimal increase in HP is not worth the loss of mana imo. Unless there are mechanics at work that I do not understand.

While it's true that Felar gear doesn't necessarily make typically good mage gear, a lot of the higher end stuff does have stats that a shapeshifter could/should care about these days.
The higher con means more natural HP. One way to look at it is that if you want 1k HP, you need less from equipment and can instead gear for other things in those slots, such as mana. Often times you might be more likely to find choice mana items less coveted than choice HP items, for example.
That being the case, it's probably fair to say that Felar will never be one of the go-to races for shapeshifters and I think that's fine. The same is true for other race/class combinations that are more appealing for people looking to fill a specific role, a challenge, or just a little variety (it's the spice of life, y'know).

Could we see some edges that favor the non-toothy final forms?
Tearing jaws and go for the throat is cool and all but gorilla, rhino, ram all get no love. How about piercing horns for extra dam or bleeding for rhino and ram. Maybe 'bruising butt' for ram that has a chance of a minor soften? or 'Stunning butt' for a chance of a little lag with butt?
Just something. I have kept the ram I got for RP reasons and just think that it is seldom picked maybe because of lack of edges to aid it.

Mostly it's the ability to use paws of the cheetah. Felar have high con so they don't have trouble maintaining this spell and they don't have to remove their footwear.
I played a felar shifter who ONLY used partial shifts (mostly paws of the cheetah), and his tankiness compared to a transmuter with malleability up. I didn't have a reliable way to obtain high-level means to do damage, though. I suppose if I joined tribunal or outlander I could go for some PvP as well, strike for the seas
Got somewhat lucky with ABS, though. It's not going to be as easy these days if I decide to try that again.
