Is there still a thing like mastery at an element (re invokers)? What exactly does it do (like longer duration/more powerful spells)?
Thanks

Something I'd like to see added to elemental mastery:
Let invokers deshield regular shields or even better... if I already have shields and cast them again, renew the timer.

This would create an imbalance that would allow invokers to run around with permanent shielding. I don't think this idea would be good for game balance, as it would allow the invoker to re-shield themselves in advance of any situation that they know might pose a risk to their shields dropping (snare, blackjack, cabal raiding), as well as remove the strategy component of resource management for longer fights.
I like having a component of PK involve timers for defensive use, including invoker shields where I know if an invoker comes for me I can time out how to fight them if I want their shields gone without being able to dispel them.
Maybe there could be some trade off for re-shielding in higher mana costs, longer lag time, or something else. Invokers regain mana the fastest of any class as it is.

Generally speaking, having later spells in a path mastered increases the damage of earlier spells in the path.

Alright thanks. Is it correct to assume that the former spells you're referring to are damage based spells? (and so, mastering shield of slime does not up the damage of vitriolic stream, nor does mastering quicksand?) Or does that count for all later spells?
