I thought I read this a while back but a search didn't reveal it (hence, I tried to make the title of this thread as specific as possible).

Is it true that there is no penalty for practicing spells in your guild?

There's no guild specific penalty.

There are some spells which have better/extra improve chances in "real" use or vs. challenging opponents.

Does that help?

One more question, if you cast something you're already affected by, is it hindered? An example would be detect invis (though, I'm not spamming detect invis that'd be silly).

No. There may be exceptions to that rule but I can't think of any.

was such a pain to need to spam burst, relax, burst, relax, in order to get the relevant edges.

Ignoring the edges, is general conjuration affected by what room you're in, like the guild or cabal vs other random places?

I may be on crack, but wasn't there something at one point in time where invokers couldn't sit in their guilds spamming spells? Reduced effectiveness or something?

Related question - is there a penalty for conjurers conjuring inside the guild?

Thanks!

Not that I'm aware of. That being said, a lot of invoker spells can't really be used in a guild.

Effectively, yes. Any place with wards/restrictions on transposition magic is less than ideal for conjuring.

To clarify:
There was something about spamming reducing effectiveness of learning rate, but not location specific.
