#53372, "Templar's Defense p2"
|
Is there any reason why I'd want to use a mid slash vs a low thrust? It seems like mid slash just has more downsides for no benefit. Or for that matter, why would I want to use a mid-spin with a mace (causing blur) when I could just do a mid-hilt and blind them entirely? Are they just there for flavor?
Also, if I recall correctly, templars defenses cannot be stacked right? So the -2 strength ones are really just for flavor mostly? Or are there additional helpful effects? And you can't hiltsmash then lag with low spinthrust?
When I played my last 2h I only really used mid hilt (blind), low spinthrust (lag), mid spin (bleeding) and low crescent for damage. Are the other ones there just mostly for flavor or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks.

Yes; the helpfile is now updated to explain why.

More damage, and maybe you're dealing with something that can't be blinded. Or maybe you're fighting someone like a pre-irongrip A-P who you think will bug out the second they get blinded for real. Otherwise yes you're probably better off with hiltsmash.

They can be stacked; that is to say, you can't mid cross someone twice and double up on that stat loss, but you can mid cross someone and low spinthrust someone and have both maledictions stick.
There's a couple different lag options, and situationally any of them can be marginally a little better than the others.

THANKS! One more question, can you hiltsmash blind someone and still lag them? Can you stat loss someone and still lag them? It always felt like I couldn't lag anyone I did another TD to.

Bumping since Daev's back. Please take a look if you get the chance! I'm still confused why I'd want to do a -2 dex attack that doesn't stack.

I saw the post the first time, but I'd need to do a little digging to give you a good answer. It's been a while since I've played an avenger paladin.
