As a counter-point to this I think a large part of the awesome was having that many *players* around as well. More imms doesn't instantly mean the game gets better. Each person who's an imm means that person is playing the game less. I've said this before but there's some people who add a lot more to the game with the characters they play than as an imm. If you wanna contribute in the ways the staff does? I definitely recommend trying out. However if you just generally love playing the game? Keep on playing...since the experience of CF is just as dependent on the players as it is the imms.

We need both. We need a healthy staff, and a healthy playerbase. I think this night showed that when the staff is firing on all cylinders and we have a lot of people playing and digging what's going on, things get pretty awesome.
