Umiron doesn't like chaotic people very much or mages whose craft tends toward things like chaos, deception and recklessness. To some degree though, it comes down to the individual.
He dislikes Scions and chaotic mages in general. Imperial mages aren't inherently bad, but certainly less trustworthy than other people. They tend to be too selfish and power-hungry for him, and people like that tend to be more trouble than they're worth.
I'd put his views on magic somewhere between Masters and Warlock, in that he is very much a "magic for magic's sake" kind of guy, but also someone who is concerned with keeping an eye on people who are using magic for what he would identify as the wrong things.
I hope that helps.

Gods come and go. In the case of Umiron ICly, he's always been around and has simply been uninterested in the goings on of Thera until now. I don't think his just appearing was a particularly unordinary way for a new Immortal to have been introduced, but YMMV or however that goes.
As for your question, I happen to have a lot on my CF plate right now. A fraction of that is my religion and Tribunal.
I hope the sour taste washes out. You're one of my favorite Tribunal players.
