#52602, "Poll: What makes you delete?"
|
To my mind the enemy is the delete command, and I think we should try to do everything in our power to dissuede anyone from using it.
So... What makes you decide to "delete; delete"?
Loss of feel/character?
Loss of gear?
Con-loss?
Bad PK ranges?
Ranked too fast?
Dissatisfaction in class spec?

If I get too disgusted with the community I start feeling like there's no point to spend so much time with people I ultimately don't want to be around, and unfortunately in the past that seemed to happen fairly regularly when I started reading all the posts on officials or unofficials.

I used to play every single character to con death but I haven't done that once in several years now. For some reason or another I just end up deleting.
Time availability was the reason last time.
Most of the time I think I delete because I feel like I've hit a ceiling with the character for one reason or another. Sometimes this has to do with the character not turning out how I'd hoped. Either the RP isn't coming off how I'd had in my head or the character just isn't as tough PK wise as I wanted it to be.
Sometimes I get an idea, try it, and feel satisfied with the experiment and delete.
I don't think I've ever deleted over getting looted but getting PK'd has pushed me to delete. Not that the PK was a bad experience or the player was an ass. It's more that I got straight up outmatched without making any big mistakes and it just took the magic away.

I can sometimes be rock solid as far as not deleting now adays, before the first hard death partial loot that came across I was rolling another. Now Ill stick it out trying for hero. But the one thing that burns me up is when they know they can take you and they do so repeatedly for no apparent reason other than just to come kill you. No explanation no roleplay just hey your ranking right now fighting some mob with a group out of my range and Im going to kill you again while your tanking have a nice day. Its kinda bull isht

Top 5 reasons why Sam deletes:
1) Loss of fun 2) Lack of time 3) Anger at CF 4) OOC reasons (may have new gf, may be moving, etc) 5) Frustration with RP

You can work around some of it with edges but once your con gets to a certain point its more painful to continue than it is to re-roll. Personally I think a stat tied to death should not in turn make you easier to plague/poison and kill your natural regen. Would be better to have a totally unrelated counter control con death if we still feel like con death has value in this game.

The current system makes some since in idea that your characters body is breaking down but not fun stick wise.
Seeing the message that some of my vitality has left is nearly a guarantee I will delete. It's that demoralizing to me.

Losing a fight against a build I specifically made my build to counter.
Losing a point of con, 2 or 3 points of con if I'm really into the character and already a hero.

Sometimes the funstick is just gone. As was my latest character deletion. I had plans but I didn't see my effort to reward ratio being anywhere near worth while.
Meh! I posted under pro...

Had the following: 5 due to pure boredom with repetitiveness of gameplay: that's my two good tribunals, one herald warrior, one uncaballed murder ranger and one shapeshifter who didn't shapeshift. 3 for whom I just couldn't make the build work: two victims of my quest for the ideal thief build and one air/defense shifter who got hummingbird. 3 who couldn't get inducted: one fortie wannabe and two evil tribunal wannabes. 1 where I just lost interest in CF and took a hiatus. Ironically, my only leader ever. 1 due to ABS. That's my first mage, didn't have much ABS trouble after him. 1 due to perceived unfair treatment by imms. Don't ask. 0 deletes due to low con. Self-preservation instinct is strong in this one.
Wow, it looks like I only had fifteen characters over three years (adding one age death up there).
EDIT: Corrected the list a bit. EDIT2: This is silly because most of those cases boil down to boredom anyway.
