#51951, "So how do the new shaman paths work?"
|
Your god lets you pick which one you want, one at empowerment, one at some point down the line?
Just curious, I've almost caved and tried one but not quite yet. The appeal of being able to pick your builds is attractive though.

Have you changed how the shaman paths are resisted? Their prayers seem to land more readily than in the past.

There are probably a few exceptions with hard or interesting saves, but for the most part they work the way you're used to.

Please? I know figuring stuff out is part of the game, but without any real way to test, seems like figuring out which ones have interesting saves could be nigh impossible.

I let people I empower choose from the 5 I've got listed for Reksah, but I expect you to have a RP reason for choosing that particular path better than "I want Malice because it's really hot right now."

Almost feels like it won't get given out anymore because like you said, it is so hot right now.

Oh, well, I was just using that spell as an example. I'll give that path to anyone that I empower and requests it with a valid RP angle.

I'm kind of surprised it's as hot as it is. Nearly every argument I've seen posted about why it's good assumes as fact something that isn't true.
(But I'm glad people are excited/afraid of some of the new stuff and trying to figure out how to deal with it.)

Is the fact that it's the only path that kept some form of instakill rotish style spell. I think a lot of oldschool shammys like having that option in their toolkit, and with it apparently being the only path to have that instakill option if people mess up, it's really really appealing.
To me though, the other 2 most appealing shaman paths are the Angel and breaker paths. Waiting for someone to rock those and show people how it's done.

Standard rot doesn't instakill anymore. That aspect may be worked into a future path, but it's that way for everyone right now.

Up to the god but I believe in most cases the god will pick for you from their chosen ones. And yes you probably get one right away and one down the line. They should be easier to get than paladin virtues for sure.

Letting people choose their paths would be much appreciated - virtues for paladins I can see being picked by the gods, but even then some people would argue it can ruin your character if you had something planned. Everyone wants certain ones and rightfully so (like light of heaven vs group giant strength)... and shaman paths are no different. It can also be another way of showing favor by giving the "good ones" to people you like... and we just need less of that across the board.
Maybe when it gets more balanced but I'd say for now let people pick them.
