#51343, "Evil empowerment"
|
I've been considering an empowerment class for a long time, but there are practically no options for evils. Following a neutral deity just doesn't work for archetypal evil priest.
The helpfile for creeds says there's only Greenways, but I keep hearing about paladins getting empowerment without a deity. Is there a similar thing for evils?
Also, I've seen at least one evil priest following a god that doesn't exist as an immortal. How difficult is that to achieve?

But I'm not 100% sure. It's hard though to roll something up to fit something that you don't have a clue about I suppose...

I was looking at the evil options... and I couldn't find one that was not dormant that I wanted to try.

Give him a try, I always wanted to myself but never came up with a suitable character concept.
Of course, from all I understand and what Daev posted when I asked about that before, if you manage to go that route and get his attention, you might just be making things worse for your character.
I view him as like following Scarabeus, but on insane difficulty mode. You probably have to be outstanding to even merit the attention, and even then, it's not going to be easy once you get it. But if you're in it for consistent stellar RP, I think it could be done and would be amazing if you pull it off.

Drok empowered an Empire Healer of mine (years ago). I was a bit terrified interacting with him, more than I am with other Imms (except Scarab, he doesn't scare me anymore). That said, all of my interactions with him were awesome, albeit not particularly frequent. I continually got the vibe I was being watched, and he would comment during interactions about things that displeased him that I had no clue he saw.
And then I deleted right before hero because I'm stupid.
But from my limited experience, totally worth giving it a shot. Just know that you're picking an Imm that does not have a lot of VISIBLE presence, but that is there more often than you anticipate. Ignorance is bliss, and I know too many happy people.

All of these (I believe) will empower evils and are relatively easy to catch up to right now.

Is there a creed-like empowerment for evils like there is for goodies now? How difficult is it to get empowered under a fictional (i.e. not existing as an IMM) deity?

Not that I know of.

It depends. It's entirely up to chance and circumstance which Immortal might find what you're doing interesting enough to get involved.

My generic evil priest is probably not going to be too interesting, I just want to explore more possibilities since I exhausted my melee class options.
Thanks for the quick answer.

Honestly I think creed empowerment is harder than most things at this point. The only thing keeping it from being a complete failure of an experiment is Arvam.

I'm not wrong, I'm just an asshole.
It takes active imms who really want to do Creeds empowerments on top of their own religion stuff to make it work... and that kind of thing has always been the exception, not the rule.
Amaranthe would be the first person to admit that when (due to the cycles of free/busy time in her life) she's around, she dreams big and when she isn't around (as she has not been for over a month at this point) those things tend to lie fallow and abandoned.
But... yeah, I can see, now that you mention it, how that statement would come off to an outside audience. Amaranthe and I go back roughly half our lives and for most of it she's been a constant fountain of CF ideas, most of which I call crazy but some of which are brilliant -- and she doesn't take the criticism to separate the wheat from the chaff personally. If she did I think she would have stabbed me, like, back in 1995 or so.
