#50524, "Does main hand wield affect parry more than offhand wield?"
|
I always assumed it does but read an old post on the other board that suggested it was random.

Here is why. Wield sword, offhand hth.
dont spec in hth
Then remove sword.
while in fight.
kay..
you die when sword removed
wield offhand sword when in fight, sword in mainhand.
Not a 25% increase you would think you would get since your not parrying random would be increased.
Anyways... Parry is determined by mainhand.
very pissed today.

So if you are wielding 2 weapons, there is a random check each incoming blow as to which you attempt to parry with. So if you wield 2 swords it is the same but if you have a sword/dagger your effective success rate will be between sword and dagger (since you use both)
Now if you have a wield and an empty hand it is a little different. If you have only one weapon in hand you will always use it to parry, even if it is your dual wield and primary is empty. So hand/sword and sword/hand parry exactly the same.
It is a wierd mechnic but it was verified by the imps in the last year if you want to dig through the forums to find the thread.

So you would parry better wielding one sword than a sword and dagger?
