Okay it is my understanding that arials actively keep themselves off the ground through conscious effort and cloud giants just kinda float without effort.

Now if this is true, shouldn't an arial lose his flying ability when he sleeps or becomes unconscious? From a realism point of view I feel this idea is sound and from a game balance point of view I don't see it as a problem since you can always "recast" once you wake up.

Ithought of this myself, but consider the massive bonus flight is for arials, and how much they lose if they lose flight like that. Then I realized...well, there's no real difference between a sleeping person flying or not (You can't trip a sleeping person anyways), and if you're an arial who's not flying because they're unconcious, I'd be taking off for flight as soon as I had any sort of a chance to do so anyways.

So, just consider it like they aren't flying when they're unconcious/sleeping, but as soon as they wake up, they take off.

Thats fine to think that but I can think of at least one situation where it doesn't make sense. River currents.

THE moment you wake up, I can agree to this.

But I think you should have to re-invoke your inherent ability to fly instead of just bouncing right back up into the air. That is what I was trying to say.

You you couldn't recast it because a gank of 3 is tripping you to death if you get jacked/slept etc.

The arial is still benefiting from the 25 dex which is nothing short of extraordinary as far as dex is concerned in the game. One of my main thoughts wasn't that a gank squad could take them down with trip but rather a single thief could have a fair shot at taking down an arial INSTEAD of calling someone to bash them since the thief cannot trip.

I don't think "game balance" includes vastly weakening an entire pc race....because *ONE* of many classes in the game has trouble killing that race solo...in some situations.

Or, on that kind of logic, we need to tone down liches...because ALL of the other classes have trouble killing one solo.
