Please make goblins permanent and unlimited.

What's more, what if there were a 1-3 other races that fit similar gameplay niches:

Some concepts to fan the fire:

Shades - neutral or evil. Exceedingly frail, they move silently and are not corporeal. Shades themselves are ignorant of their origins - and lead short, drifting lives, and will one day grow tired and dissipate. Their presence is inherently magical. In addition to being able to cast some spells, shades exude auras that may aid their friends or harm their foes. For short periods of time, they may even deform, an extremely taxing and superior form of invisibility. (A stealthy support spellcaster. Auras are toggleable, and drain mana like forms.)

Fey - Neutral or Good - Light, tiny, and aggressive, fey are very mistrusting of other races. If at all, they identify most with elves - as they are similar in grace. They are quite hardy for their size, but are weakest of races. A fey's voice is a whisper at most, and her thoughts can only reach Therans with some affinity for the wilderness, and their groupmates. They move quickly through the wilds, and though they cannot hide well, they can avoid fights with ease. They are expert dagger-users, but cannot wield anything larger. No fey is an expert in magic, but all have an inherent grasp of some basic spells, such as weather control, the ability to call lightning, faerie fire, and faerie armor. (i'm envisioning some kind of non-hiding crossbreed between ranger, thug thief, and a warrior, here, much like raiders but with a wilderness magic and close range bent)

Golems - Neutral, not chaotic - Golems that have achieved some level of agency over their existences. Though they are the products of magic, they themselves are not magical or capable of utilizing magic, but more likely the result of the fluctuations of the Veil. They are quite dim, not at all deft, but very strong. They can only be warriors, and lack the dexterity and freedom of movement for dagger, staff/spear, and whip/flail usage. Their solid fists, however, make them feared pugilists. Golems prefer an orderly existence that is easy for them to understand - as such they can be incredibly loyal and dedicated to the causes. Though they are technically immortal and are born quite sturdy, their shells can only be reformed a limited number of times (lose CON like a lich).

That possibility has come up at the Immortal dinner table. There are number of things I would like to expand on with Goblins, probably before doing that. In a month or so I should have subdued the 100,000 word beast that has been haunting my dreams; so we'll see what the future holds.

There's already one in the pipeline that is similar but different. After all, we really need a Size: Tiny race, don't we?

Distributing a dissertation prior to publication is death (with regard to getting it published). But, I do plan to submit it for publication next year.
