#47677, "Anti-ganging."
Edited on Fri 09-Nov-12 04:29 PM

Maybe it's just a phase, maybe it's my changed perspective - but is it possible big gangs are more common now than they have been in the past? It seems like evil battle guys in particular get it REALLY bad right now. They will be facing down one orc, three fort, two nexus and a trib - all of whom look to get the one piece of low hanging fruit before (maybe) turning on each other.

Is there any chance to strengthen the anti-gang code to make this more unattractive for the gangers?

Secondly could the anti gang code take into account the ping pong affect somehow? Where you fight two people in a spot, get hit by an air major on the way to your cabal, then fight two people waiting at your cabal, then word out and find the original gang waiting at your recall, then have the air major fly in to help finish you? I'm referencing situations where you are getting ganged - but not in a way that anti-gang is going to help you.

I KNOW you gotta remember the gangs in the past.
A 5 deep scion death squad ravging everything in thier path?
or the occasional 6+ on 6+ group battles.
I don't know whether to look back at that with nostalgia or
just be thankful you don't really see that anymore.

Considering I was always the guy trying to find my corpse and
wondering how I'm gonna get money to replace my pies before they
kill me again... maybe I should just be thankful. Hehe.

And the 'sportsmanship': I remember 'Hey mr. paladin come learn
with us meet us at X' *GANK* That was funny, you get to keep
your pies.
Or as embarassed as I am to admit, using elfy stealth and emoting
drinking a potion and dissappearing but stepping off eastern for
a second and back to the crossroads with a wrath.

Even the worst of us is kind of a nice guy compared to back when.
Hehe.

#47678, "Ganging is part of game balance."

Not only is it a part of game balance, but it is also one of the only downsides to joining battle.

Its quite natural that when faced with the overwhelming potential of battle powers, most characters in the game decide to avoid fights they cannot win and pick fights they can win.

It just so happens that against battle, and to a lesser extent cabals like scion, its rare to come across a fight that you can win alone. So you're practically obligated to bring a friend to kill him with you, or else you risk horrible death for very little chance at victory.

Especially when you're a player like me, who prefers avoiding powergamey builds and likes whimsical, RP-focused builds like elf thief or water/defense herald. There is just no reason to hand powergamey battle players free, easy kills, and every reason to repeatedly and brutally kill them before they can ruin your funstick with pincer deathblow deathblow.

tl;dr If you wanted to have options against ganks, don't play battle. One of the big reasons battle has so many incredibly strong powers is because they're expected to deal with huge ganks all the time.
