It's effective on all incoming communes.

Granted, the legacy overall is a little better vs. shamans and paladins, since in addition to also having important offensive communes, they also have abilities that deal holy and/or unholy damage.

Yes, it's quite good against all communes. Not sure about the align bit though, but I think no.
