#46627, "Sleek Wands, All in One"

I have been searching the forums trying to figure out exactly how sleek wands work. This is what I have come up with. Can someone please let me know if I'm off base?

Every mage (and ap)has a set of sienna, amber, and black sleek wands that magically (pun intended) appear bonded to their character once they reach level 30.

These wands are scattered through the game everywhere from major cities to explore areas.

Goodies will not have to kill goodies for wands, but may have to kill neutrals.

Orderly characters will not have to break the Tribunal laws to get their wands.

Wands can also be found in containers.

A wand will appear when a character walks into the room if in a container, when the mob dies if on a mob.

They will appear if a transmuter is duo.

They will not appear if a character is a ghost.

There is a longer respawn time than usual.

A character can learn the detect artifact spell once they have earned enough explore/observation/imm experience (whatever the magical (again pun intended) combination is).

This spell will trigger at level 37 for aura, 42 for shield and 47 for barrier.

It triggers differently for sleeks than it does for other sources of these 3 spells.

Any mistakes or obvious omissions?
Thanks

>> They will not appear if a character is a ghost.

Also, the respawn timer is stopped while you are a ghost. (Or perhaps reset when you die, haven't tested that much in detail). So if you grab it, die, you cannot get it again right after you unghost.

>> A wand will appear when a character walks into the room if in a container, when the mob dies if on a mob.

Only if you are fighting the mob when it dies. (I think your charmies doesn't count in this respect).

Is that true? For example if you just order your zombies to hit the mob but you don't assist and the zombies kill the mob will you get the sleek?

My experience with this is limited to helping a necromancer acquire his sleek black, but I believe it works like this:

Charmies can get the killing blow as long as the mage is fighting the mob when it dies.

Sleek black isn't findable until 35 or 36 (I forget which exactly) otherwise that seems about correct to me.

To clear up that ball of worms that led to a gigantic ####-storm earlier this year.

If two mages have the same spot, and they both walk into the room, will it pop twice? Perhaps only once and then you have to leave and enter again and it will pop again? I have always wondered what would happen.

Probably once the first wand is grabbed if the second guy walks back in it'll appear.

I haven't tried it out, this is just my best guess based on my understanding.

Wait, I just read that detect artifact fires for *aura* first, not shield? Why? Isn't shield the first one? Am I remembering wrong?

I think it should be the way you describe, but it turns out it currently isn't. I'll probably swap that around.

In terms of DR atleast? I know the majority of Amber locals are legitimately harder than the Sienna locals, but I swear I saw a by one of y'all pretty recently that in terms of the actual DR %, Aura = Shield.
