But the nightwalker had so many awesome things about it, many of which I will not reveal.

I think you're correct on all counts: if someone asked me what the best familiar in the entire game is, I'd name the mini nightwalker without hesitation. But you're right, it also really did not ultimately fit your PK style that well (at least, your style with Rindros.)

I'd assume above and beyond "quest" familiars that are the upgraded version of basic familiars. If nothing else, how f'in awesome is it that your FAMILIAR is a nightwalker?

But you know I'm right and Rindros totally did! And baby nightwalker was soooo not tanky enough for it.

Nightwalker familiar is what I would classify as utility. Much better for the subtle, surgical strike, well prepared for a certain foe style. Rindros was not the subtle pker. Rindros was more of an oh, did I just run something over with my truck? style.

Edit: Though I must say, no one ever targeted my familiar over myself after I got it. In fact, I killed my own familiar myself by accident about the same amount of times as any individual killed it (twice, both due to trying to zap Niicrolius, and typing 'zap ni' and insta killing it :/

I've spent at least 100 hours with everything but ifrit at this point and liked them all in different ways.

I think there can be a best familiar for what you want to do with a character, but not a best one all-around exactly.

and the combo of perks is very handy, can't detect hiders but it offers some nice protection against them, can tank passably, wishgrant return is great pre-word, enhanced elemental conjuring.

I can never tell if it ever did anything and what the limitations were on actually using it (do you have to be in combat? in the area? etc)
