Great white has a base 97 dam roll. 97. It's not easy to have a base dam roll that high just from gear, with anything.
Then, you throw in brutality of the shark. +8 It can frenzy itself. +6
Right there you are at 111 with no gear, just innate spells/abilities, no cabal powers even. To make it more obscene you can start tacking on other preps. You're looking at probably one of the highest dam rolls in the game that is also one of the easiest to get since it only requires ranking a shifter.
But you'll still die with it because you get 1-2 attacks that probably won't land and unless you have ABS you'll take pretty high damage because it dodges like a brick. Plus you have no lagging options for people, so they will just run if things go south.
But it's fun as hell for a little while, hitting mobs for Annihilates twice a round every round.
Best dam roll for others though, I always like dwarf berserker in theory. Probably can get into the 100s pretty easily if you can get the gear and take the proper legacies.
And being a dwarf you can forge weapons. People that say forge weapons that are non dwarves are forgetting they need another to do it. Just like people saying use enchant weapon scrolls (which is a gamble to use on something forged already) and forge weapon together. No dwarf has scrolls far as I know.
Here's what you COULD (I doubt it would be easy, and that you would keep such a set for long even if you could) get on a dwarf villager, going solo. 22 str = +6 Rings +8 total 14 neck +8 total 22 Head +5 27 Face +2 29 Body +7 i think 36 arms gloves legs boots +20 (spiked is all +5 except the armor I believe) 56 About Poncho +11 67 Waist +3 70 wrists +10 80
berserk +11 maybe? 91 Thirst +15 106 Weapons forged + 10 to +12 per (Highest I know forgable for a villager is +8 weapon.) 126 -130 Throw in legacies: Chilling. +8 134 - 138 Cry of thunder. 14 144 - 152 So there you go. Battle bard could probably push that higher for you. And maybe there are tattoos that can give + dam as well.
Or just be Ravon. +200 dam unholy. Yeah, that wins against anything. (though if you look at Waris, it says +2592 dam )

You can easily find gear that will give +2 damage or more per slot. That's not even talking the good stuff. What are there, 17 slots?
34
Enchant or Forge existing weapons, optimally 7 each
48
Berserk/Frenzy/Aristaea
63-73
Chilling legacy
73-83
Warcry legacy
98-108
If you get some of the best items and are a battlerager so you can get poncho, you can do better than that. Understand that you will likely drop your weapons if you catch a cold and every spell will probably hit you, but stupidly high damroll is doable if you are truly committed.

As Tellik (thief), I managed an 85 damroll.
As Thelana (thief), there were a few times I was slightly over 100 (gotta love those backstabs!).
Tellik inherited a ton of +dam gear from Flaire when he died, and also regularly stacked berserk, frenzy, and battaglia (there is only one way I know of to stack these three).
With Thelana, I took the item knowledge I had gained from playing Tellik and basically gathered up most of those same items to start with, then had a sword forgecrafted to +13 damroll, and a dagger forgecrafted to +10. I also discovered a few more preps I hadn't been aware of with Tellik. Fortunately, Thelana was not really the murderous type, and I mostly just used that gear for exploring.
With Torrana (outlander shifter w/ golden eagle/great white) I managed a 93 in eagle form and I think over 100 in shark form. In that case, I used triple stacked ignites, berserk, frenzy, battaglia, dragon strength, and a few other random spell effects whose names I forget. I didn't always use all of these at the same time, and some of them have very short durations, so it can be very tricky to accomplish. In the end, though, it was pretty sweet seeing the occasional ===OBLITERATES=== on a basic claw attack from the golden eagle, and seeing 5 ***DEVASTATES*** on the golden eagle's furor attack to drop your foe from gushing or writhing (they think they still have a chance to flee) to dead.

My knowledge of rare items in the game represents several years of making explore characters and systematically scouring challenging explore areas, often alone, until I had probed every nook and cranny. The items that Tellik inherited from Flaire were discovered in just such a way. Tellik (thief), Flaire (mino-warrior), and Egrelam (bard) gathered the bulk of those items as a team, with Flaire providing raw muscle bulldozer power, Egrelam handling the healing and protections, while I provided superior area knowledge and cunning tactics and thief tricks that I've learned over many years. A few of his final items were obtained without my assistance, like the Scepter of the Ancients, but all of them represent a great deal of hard work.
Thelana was able to get many of them much easier than we did for Flaire because of her specific build and the RP style I pursued with her, but the knowledge of how to utilize that build was also obtained through several characters of experimentation and again, a great deal of exploration. I'm not going to just hand it over on a silver platter.
Now, if you want to learn of such things, you can feel free to roll up a good explore-build character, find one of my characters in the game and offer to go exploring with me. My characters tend to be very "teach" oriented, so you'll learn a lot if you pay attention. But I don't just hand someone all that stuff for free. Sorry

I've been playing cf since spring of 1998. That's a lot of time to learn things. What's more, all but maybe 1 or 2 of the items in question didn't even exist way back then. Most were from areas that went in long after I became competent to traverse the mud solo.
Tellik's allies were all made IC. Ironically, by using thief waylay, and then robbing them mercilessly upon his first encounter with them. I did that to both Egrelam AND Flaire, individually. Both of them simply took it in stride, didn't get all pissed off and start threatening to rape Tellik's mother or whatever if he didn't return what he took. Instead, they just offered to let him keep it and wished him well, or if it was something they REALLY wanted, they offered to buy the item back, or to trade for it back. Anytime someone used that approach in dealing with Tellik, he always relented and usually became friends with the character. He also loved to explore, so when he saw Egrelam leading a group of people to Octagonal Tower, he quickly offered to join, (promising to behave of course, since a few of the party members had caught him robbing them previously). Then when it became apparent that my knowledge of the area greatly exceeded Egrelam's (the others had never been there even once), Egrelam turned over leadership of the group to me, and thus began a strong IC partnership.
About a week later, I discovered that Flaire and Egrelam had previously established an exploration team, though they clearly didn't know that much about the other yet (Egrelam didn't even know what Flaire's second spec was, or what legacies he planned to take). Consequently, the three of us joined together and just started bulldozing our way through explore areas, starting with Octagonal and Thar-Acacia, followed immediately by Dragon Tower ruins.
Now, what I REALLY find ironic here, is you first requested that I IM you the list of Thelana's gear (thereby establishing an OOC connection with YOU to help YOU acquire an in-game advantage), and when I refuse, you suddenly insinuate that I have achieved my skill level by doing what you just attempted to do.
I was just reading your post about zombies as well, and again you are ranting about supposed OOC connections giving someone else an advantage over you, but then immediately follow that up with your own OOC request for special in-game knowledge. And you have the audacity to think that everyone else is full of **** in their analysis of you? I'm saying this, and I'm not even someone who has ever bothered to analyze people's replies on these forums. I don't even pay that much attention to the forums; mostly just when I'm bored. So you can't accuse me of being just another one of those people who formed some irrational opinion about you years ago and never gave you a second consideration (as you were basically saying in your zombie thread).
My current opinion of you is based solely on something that you did JUST NOW----TODAY.

I wasn't accusing you of any wrong doing. I just think it's odd that you don't use other peoples knowledge to find the stats on things.
I do in the form of the Wiki and Item Search.
When you say you don't I dont believe you. Unless you play nothing but gnomes and mages or spam up lore, you are in all likely using an outside source.
I give you that 1998 is a long time to gather knowledge and that surely gives you an edge. If I explored I would likely have more.
That being said I don't see anything wrong with asking for a list of items/spells that allow you to wrack up that sort of a damage roll since there are lists of information available for all of these things. These lists can be found in posts on Dio's and here and individually in the Wiki.
And with that being said, I think your over the top responce to me places your own assertions about your feelings toward me in doubt.

There's a difference between a list of information for basic ranking equipment and a list of a specific successful character's rare equipment. If it's not out there (like say, in a PBF), you shouldn't be asking for it. Figure it out in game. Splntrd

Filters has nothing to do with it.
Not calling someone a liar without damn good reason is what I was getting at.
>>But this guys has lied about things in the past *it seems*.
A cursory examination of this guy's posting history shows accusations of being a gear hoarder, but nothing to indicate lying. Granted, I didn't dig too deep, but let's not forget that peoples' sins in CF are never forgiven and if he were a known liar, there'd be plenty of people calling him out on it.
>>The way he writes is indicative of deception
Forgive me for not being able to accept your authority on this issue. In recent weeks you've shown a misunderstanding of several issues, assuming in some cases that there was something untoward going on when it has been conclusively shown that everything was on the up and up.
Rather than accepting things with a grain of skepticism you seem to assume the worst case scenario (cheating, OOC connections) in each case without any evidence to support the claim. Even when it's shown to you that you're mistaken, you seem to be reluctant to accept it. One could easily make the claim that the way you write is indicative of paranoia.
>>my own experiences with CF lead me to believe that none of us live in a vacuum.
A total vacuum? No, but some of us are quite insulated. I'll admit that I have Stevers on my AIM list, but I probably use AIM about once every nine months, and have chatted with Stevers less than half a dozen times, never about anything CF related. I also have an undeleted private message on Dio's that explains the intricacies of a particularly complicated CF conundrum (non-quest related, by the way). I have not read more than the first few sentences of this message, and I know I should get rid of it, but can't bring myself to do it.
These are as close as I have to OOC connections. So, is it a vacuum? No, but it's pretty close. And yet I've still managed to get a leadership position; get tattooed; get empowered; get Maranated; have deep involvement in cabal/global quests; amass a list of nearly 50 sleek locations; locate a number of limited non-sleek barrier sources; and get my last Villager's name onto the Pillar.
All without cheating, all in-character, and you want to know something? I'm not particularly good at this game, but I keep plugging away at it, learning from my mistakes, and building off of each character.
If I can do it, anyone can.

And my skepticism comes from the manner in which they post and is filtered through my own experiences.
I have already found evidence that he does run around with others and gets help. His premise was that he gathered all his knowledge without help. I called #### and have found his own posts where he has received help in game. And the very fact that he uses the forums tells me he has access to OOC means.
I never accused him of cheating. Cheating was your word not mine. I think he's just a liar, and I base that off his history on the forums.
Is Klaak on your IRC? Just curious.

Where?
Also, I'm a bit confused. I'd consider using OOC connections in the way you've been alluding to to fall into the category of cheating (see: permagroup.)
Granted, I also see that you call him out for his evil character travelling with goodies as being evidence of OOC connections. Not for nothing, but isn't it possible that an evil character using goodies for personal advancement is just, well, acting evil? Frankly, I'm inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to a text-based-adventure-game with no real world advantages to be gained, no matter how "good" you are at it.
>>Is Klaak on your IRC? Just curious.
I don't even know who Klaak is. I thought Thelena was played by a guy named Lokain, who I'm equally unfamiliar with. Also, do you mean on my AIM? Full disclosure: Stevers is the only person who plays CF that I have ever had any contact with outside of these forums or the game itself.

If you don't consider OOC connections to be cheating, why are you making such a stink about it?
Also, I'm not saying that just because it's possible to succeed without using OOC connections means that no one uses them. But by the same token, you can't say that just because it's possible to succeed using OOC connections that everyone uses them.

If someone is stupid enough to let you prepare with all these before the pk and then lets you murder him - then you can kill him without anything of these anyway as easy.
Having EQ like Eleagra (or any other badass warrior) had is OK for a warrior. And wasting the time gathering not too important things and then trying to keep it will only make you spend less time for pk itself.

That's the nice thing about an air shifter. I did first all the preps that had a longer duration, some of the preps while waiting on the ignite timer, and then the last prep was the third ignite, which was usually in the same city as the victim, or a city very close by. Then I would just flyto/peck if in the same city, or fly off to the area where my victim was waiting unsuspectingly, and flyto/peck.
The battles I had the most fun with were in Hamsah. Two tribs on duty there, each with their guards. They knew I was logged on, so they were sitting together at one of the Hamsah gates, hoping that the extra guards would give them an advantage. I would prep up, with full protections, including ethos protection, and damage preps, then flyto/subvert guard. The gate guards would attack me and I'd aim at them until I pecked a Trib's eyes bloody. Then I'd flee, and fly back to reengage him. I actually took down both tribs like that, though by that time some of my damage preps were beginning to drop, and my hp was getting low enough I began to worry about the gate guards locking me up and taking all my stuff. Fortunately, the last trib was usually lower on hp than I was, and then my final furor attack would drop him, or he would try to run and I'd flyto/rake to bring him down

And you cannot catch those 2 tribs not in Hamsah because by the time you do "I did first all the preps that had a longer duration, some of the preps while waiting on the ignite timer, and then the last prep was the third ignite, which was usually in the same city as the victim, or a city very close by." the victims will be already far away from the area you saw them in last time, unless it is a protected city.
Often aura or shield + barrier + faster attack at the better time is much better than everything above. You learn it well when playing an AP

I only prepped that much when I knew my target was going to be stationary for a while. If I had a target who was on the move, the prep was far less, and also far less necessary. Generally, someone who is on the move will also be less prepared. If I thought perhaps they would be prepared and that I would not STILL have a chance of winning, I would just stalk them from the air until they settled down, then strike.
One time I actually flew right into an imperial horde on Calandaryl. My target fled convulsing. Meanwhile, I flew out with a hamstring, artery, a snapped twist, healing curse, plague, poison, sigil of pain, curse, and distorted (yeah, it was pretty ugly, but at least I had Overcome Distortion edge to help a little). My target was still running so I swooped back in on him alone and opened with a rake for that extra round of claw attacks. He fled again, but another flyto/rake and the following round of lag on him finished him. But because I was so stacked with gear, I had to get out quick before my maladicts killed me in the same area as the Imperials. I barely managed to fly back to the Jade Mountains. The moment I landed, the tick hit and the bleeding from all my maladicts killed me, a very short distance from my pit. It was probably the boldest attack I ever made, as well as the toughest fight, but by far the most thrilling pk, even though I died in the process.
Unfortunately, they were moving, so I had only prepped a/b/s and a single ignite. If I'd had time to prep more, I would have prepped more saves and damage, and probably could have survived easily.

And I am not trolling. There is a lot of detail in this and as an investigator I cue on that as suspicious.
Name the Characters involved at least and did your character have a PBF so I can match up your story?

I guess if you want to be super secret squirrel and hide stuff you shouldn't post a PBF.
I really like your Imm comments about Gear hording and how some other players seemed to think you were lying about somer aspects of your behavior as well.
