#43819, "Question to Team Area: Galadon descriptions."

When compared to cities like Arkham, it is clear that Galadon is a poorly written area when it comes to descriptions.
Here are some things that describe Galadon:
-Many of the rooms do not have wall descs to non-walkable directions. -The rooms generally do not have lookable objects in their descriptions. -Some mobiles (such as Slayer), have only one-line descriptions. That is a let-down, given that it is a unique, progged mob with a bleh one-liner description that doensn't even decribe the mob at all. Some other examples:
The tanner stirs the large vat as she waits for the hide to be cured. She has many pieces of leather in several stages of being cured. The tanner is in perfect health.
The dockworker looks tired. There have been many ships docking here recently, more than normal, and everyone has had to work from dawn to dusk. A dockworker is in perfect health.
This does not apply to all of Galadon, particularly the shops in dimly lit alley have been written better than most of Galadon. If I recall correctly, this part has been done later.
And here's my question: Is team area going to flesh up Galadon to properly represent CF at some point? The area is supposedly CF's newbie capital and it would be nice if it could wow the newbies by being well written.

I wrote Arkham, and Galadon will be of the same caliber. I'm just not sure when I'll get done with it. I currently have 98% of mobs and over half the rooms finished maybe 75%. The objects are still heavily lacking. That might give you some idea of a time line. I have been into CF stuff a lot more in recent months, so probably sooner than later but there still is plenty of work to get done.

If you need "stuff" - a "submit an object/item" contest to generate a resource pool might be a lot of fun for players. Might be more effort than it's worth to you - but I know it'd be awesome if some of the bricks and mortar of Neo-Galadon was player-generated. Splntrd

1. Neltouda writes short decs for the contest items and publishes the list for the contest. 2. Players then write long descs for the items. 3. Players whose items can be implemented as is are the winners. Players whose descs go in with modifications are runner ups. No other grading is necessary. 4. The contest reward is the item getting implemented with the new Galadon.

I hope the Slayer and Enforcer are still around in some form! That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.

I enjoyed exploring it very much and appreciated the unified theme you have carefully constructed to the town and how certain political schemes are reflected in the appearance of the whole town.
I wrote the OP with mainly newbies in mind, assuming that the CF in Kongregate scheme brings new folk to play, but now that I hear that it is you working on it, I'll be looking forward to thoroughly explore your Galadon when you get it done as well.

Yes....but the Galadon revamp has actually been on going even longer than my arial city revamp. Nelt is in charge of it and would have to give an update, I think it's moving along.

Would be to have an "Event" where the outlanders call upon their animal friends to rise up and completely destroy Galadon and the Spire. The Tribunal then helps the Mayor rebuild the city and a new Spire. The rebuilt city may be the same or different, up to the Imms, but the new city has everything you are looking for in an up to date/newbie capital area.
Just a thought.
