#4339, "Citizens should be able to check Oath's donations"

I think Citizens should be able to check Oath's donations. I remember one time in particular, there were 3 potential sect members on and I had just got a nice loot. I wanted to give the thing to oath with the most donations, but had to ask. I think being able to check their donation levels could make for increased roleplay, for example, competition and busting the Oath's arses.

You can only check your own sects younger members. Having Citizens able to check donations for oaths of any sect would make them much more politically important, a role I think they are trying to keep them from fulfilling.

I guess "Citizens" is Jargon. LET ME REPHRASE:

I think ELCHEON 2 AND UP should be able to check ELCHEON 1's (OATHS).

I don't mean this as a cheap shot, but it was glaring at me so I had
to do something.
'ELCHEON' is a horribly mangled form of the real word, which is
'echelon'.

As to why Echelon Two's can't check up on Echelon One's, well, think
of it this way...do you, as a normal citizen (presumably in the USA)
get to check up on the legal standing of immigrants who are getting
their green card, or those who are new to citizenship? Nope. Officials
of various departments can, however. As an Echelon Two you are basically
the grunt of a sect (or sectless depending on the class). Since you
are the grunt, you don't get the benefits of the Sect as much as an
Echelon Three and above. (We'll consider Ech. 2's as police cadets.
They are in their sect, so to speak, but they're not yet "in" the
sect, if you get my meaning.)

It's all making perfect sense to me, but my ramblings might be
confusing you further. Maybe an Imperial Immortal will clarify a bit
more if you need it.

I was under the Impression that no one but maybe Emperor would be able to check Oaths donations. If 3 and up can that makes perfect sense by your reasoning. Word yo.

Someone check my logic here:

To use this analogy is to also draw the conclusion that Empire is a governmental system based on the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT.

>well,
>think
>of it this way...do you, as a normal citizen (presumably in
>the USA)
>get to check up on the legal standing of immigrants who are
>getting
>their green card, or those who are new to citizenship? Nope.
>Officials
>of various departments can, however.

My opinion:

I wish you wouldn't criticize other people's ideas with bad analogies.

This analogy does not in fact prove that you are right, or that your idea is better.

If your idea is better, why don't you explain why in fact it is better. (I think it is.)

If the numbers are hidden, oathes will be in constant fear that they are not donating enough. This will boost productivity in a way that fosters paranoia. I know quite a few companies that work this way.

Otherwise, people will do the bare minimum to get the powers they need. The Empire is a hostile environment in that respect. Easy in, easy out.

Why not just donate to your own sect? If you cannot be anything more than a citizen, donate to the sect or person that most benefits your character.

You could have eathire not played an Imperial and misunderstood, or are implying a chance in making it where they cannot see their own donations. Currently, they can see their own donations. Other Citizens (anything higher than oath) cannot.

If your Imperial wants Oaths to donate to the Empire, rewarding the one who donates the most is good incintive, if its in your roleplay to do so.

I misread your question.

Actually, I've played one Imperial and somehow got to echelon 3 or 4 awhile back. I remember you could only check down on oathes within your sect, but not others.

If you're talking about those non-sect "citizens", it sort of makes sense that they can't check oathes' donations.

Maybe it's just to limit and frustrate those floater classes who want to be in the Empire, compelling them to go elsewhere.
