I've sent things into that void and never seen it return 
And it's not like that person need to respond, any Imm could say who was responsible (I know the area list shows a name, but don't think they answer that anymore).

Oh and the area seems kinda "light" on obs/explore exp - unless I'm way off base here it wasn't providing much for lots of perusing.

Is it impossible for any heroes to make it through the entire Prison of Glymarach area, or can certain combos make it somehow? I'm obviously not looking for a spoon... I just want to know if going in as a hero is just a really stupid idea, or potentially very productive.

The prison was designed for a certain level range, not so that heroes could have an easy ride through to find everything they could with little resistance.
Hence the resistance.
There are plenty of area explores for heroes to visit.
