#39635, "get all pit"

can we put a mild mild lag on get all pit for recall pits for non ghosts? Watching a swarm of level 1-5's sit there spamming get all to compete with a hero who is waiting on gear is painful. even like a single combat round of lag would be legit.

Since unghosting timer<corpse rotting timer.

You should ask yourself why these level 1-5's know that you are waiting on gear. Because they shouldn't.

Lowbies shouldn't become aware that you are waiting for gear in your pit.

Just run past the pit periodically and take a look. Don't stop, and leave town immediately.

People won't work out you're checking the pit, assuming you're not running past market square.

That's what my experience was as Fungor. Dunno if Imms have changed the timers in recent years, but that's how it was.

So basically, you stay clear of that pit until you get that warning and go check the pit after that. Preferably you stay away from that area.

Now, however, corpse decay is significantly less than unghosting time, I'd estimate perhaps 10 ticks after you die, your corpse decays and your gear goes to the pit, while 15 ticks or so for unghosting.

I've heard this inconsistency perpetuated a ton on the newbie channel, too. Trust me, it got changed: your gear WILL return before you unghost, if you're waiting at the pit. Test it yourself.

Corpse rot is variable, but should always be less than your ghost timer. I made that change sometime in 2002 it looks like. Previously you would unghost before your corpse rotted.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

For very long time I didn't sit by the pit, but last itme I mob-died and had to get thing from the pit, I've unghosted, got hungry and thirsty and only after that (within 2-3 ticks) my corpse did rot.

It hasn't been like that in a while in my experience. Unless it's changed back.
