#3919, "New idea, narcotics sydicate"

Forgive me if this is out of place, but from what I understand there is no such thing as an addictive narcotic on carrion fields. I had this idea that a druid who was trying to be a good little druid and do everything with nature found this mushroom with special powers, (don't know enough about the flora of carrion fields to give specifics) anyway it does something like + int, or +str. This shouldn't be anything new.

However this druid learnt to refine it using some special technique (haven't thought how that works yet) and makes it more potent, HOWEVER it is addictive. This would mean that you get more of a plus the more you use it, but if you use it a lot then you become addicted. If you are addicted then your movement points are pathetic when not using the drug as well as occasional health problems (such as if you were starving). Another possible consequence could be randomly using some of your powers without the player desiring it.

This would open up huge possibilities for orderly evil charachters to create a drug syndicate. Out of the immortals I would bet that Tanadin's charachter might kind of sponser these drug lords.

Well there it is, if there is something like that already I apologize.

While I'm not opposed to the idea of having addiction-friendly substances in the game, the idea of having a huge cartel seems more appropriate to a modern/sci-fi setting.

Obaznuk has been doing meth since child birth. If you knew him at all IC, it would make perfect sense.
(Haha, just kidding! Sorry.)

I hear preps are all the rage these days.

I don't think it is. You can find all sorts of mushrooms and pipeweeds to eat and smoke. And if I may, i would like to suggest the pipeweed next time you come by a tobacco merchant. It has a wonderful kick to it!

This all sounds horribly wrong. Not only will we have to hear about your addiction, but you may also just wig out and fireball everyone around you? Good luck finding a friendly face.

Well that was certainly interesting. I don't think you'd need to implement a system to get people addicted to something. If their role calls for it, they will usually find a way to get it done.

Yeah the random effect thing could be really bad, forget about that.
But there is a serious difference between pipeweed and something like heroin, I am just thinking about a refined drug instead of the raw stuff, and making it possibly massively marketable.

If you want to roleplay a drug lord, you need people who are willing to roleplay addicts. Enforcing it using affects and so on just means everyone will want to be a drug lord. Too many enjoy being in charge, roleplaying a victim in such a way is rarely rewarding.

Of course, I like underdogs. I'd be an instant addict
