I've recently started using Linux with Ubuntu (my laptop crapped out finally) and I'm just learning how to do stuff with Linux. I've been trying to find a decent mud client. Previously, I used MUSHclient which did most everything I needed (triggers, timers, aliases, highlights, and some simple to do scripting) and was generally pretty fast at it. Since I switched to Linux, I've been having a tough time finding a decent one. I'm currently using GMud which is getting the job done, but its only so-so in each of those areas. When I use a highlight, if the text would normally show up in a certain color on the mud, the highlighted word gets highlighted as it's supposed to, but then the rest of the text that's supposed to be colored by the mud gets defaulted back to gray. So if I set a highlight on someone's name because that person is an enemy or something, and then they send me a tell,their name gets the highlight, and then all the text after their name, which is supposed to be green from the mud, get changed back to gray.

I found Xpertmud, and it looks like a pretty good client to use (possibly even better and more versatile than MUSHclient), but I'm having serious challenges getting it install due to my lack of Linux knowledge.

If anyone has some linux knowledge and/or has used Xpertmud and can help me out, I'd really appreciated it.

Ok, so I got tintin++ going, but it's not really what I'm looking for in a client, especially given my lack of programming or scripting skills. Xpertmud still looks like a pretty good option, but I can't seem to get it to compile and install properly. I can't find a precompiled binary version though. If I knew more about linux, maybe I could figure this out on my own. As it is, though, I don't know much at all about linux yet.

Can someone please help me figure this out? I'm running ubuntu linux.

TinyFugue is a good one... I've used it in Linux and Windows, but have recently switched to MUSHClient for Windows.

Had some trouble configuring XTerm so that numpad hotkeys would be recognized properly. Other than that it works like charm.

I usually recommend it for those who were using JMC mud client under Windows, but it's simple enough to understand it from scratch. Supports Perl regular expressions and even has an automapper if you're into these kinds of things.

MUSHClient runs under linux with wine, no special setup required. If you are using a scripting language such as vbscript just copy the dll and under the scripting window you can point to that file and it will work as well.
