#3851, "Ranger idea - Very short"
|
Okay, had this idea (about to leave work, whee, so I'll keep it short)
Rangers can make ranger staffs, real cool... lovely stuff. RaGers can make ponchos from their corpses.
How about, Rangers who can choose to make clothing from the mobs they kill instead of just butchering it for steaks. Killing that dragon was nice, we got a lot of steaks because he is flagged as whatever that giant size is (monstrous or whatever). But I don't want his meat, I want some of his dragonscale with the extreme random chance of creating cool armor out of it.
I know that if this did exist, there'd be random exploitation by people (similar to create wand/staff when it first came in, or brew)
But I've killed mobs where bodyparts are left over which can be used/worn, but later crumble.. I'd just see the idea of being able to fashion some potentially interesting gear entirely from mob (and maybe even player) kills rather interesting.
If shotdown I understand, but in theory it sounds cool.

Well, I like your idea, but I think this would be better as a cabal skill instead of just the ranger class as a whole.
I would add too, I think that anyone should be able to wield a ranger fashioned staff... not just rangers. A fashioned ranger's staff is not a cabal weapon, like those fashioned by the fortress folks.. it's good that those are restricted to that cabal only, but a ranger should be able to fashion a staff for themselves, or an ic friend who is not a ranger, imho.
Life is like a game of chess!
