#38306, "Felar are resistant to Light?"

I was browsing through the new webpage and was liking the way the different classes and races were done up. But while looking at the Felar page something caught my eye. Over in the right side where it lists the racial Resistances/Weaknesses I noticed that it said that Felar resist Cold and Light? Have they always resisted light?

Which brings me to another question. It's been about 2 years since I last stopped playing and only recently started again as of like last week or 2 weeks ago. But what exactly constitutes Light as far as weaknesses/resistances go. Cause I know orcs are weak to it. Is it just any attack that is a 'searing light' attack?

...Why in the hell would felar be resistant to light? What is the IC justification for this? It doesn't make sense to me.

They are covered in dense fur that the light cannot penetrate. If you have hair on your head you don't bother sunscreening it do you?

P.S. You could argue similarly for arials but most descs for arials involve only partial feathery coverage but to be honest it is more likely a game balance issue with arials but you only asked abut felar anyway.

I shave my head anyway, No1 all over so it is hardly noticeable and I have a beautiful shaped melon

Odd thing is that my mothers side of the family ALL have or had full heads of hair until they died. Even my father (though I have not seen him in 4-5 years) had a full head of hair at 56 so it must be the stresses and strains of modern living......or CF in my case!

I'd have worked it out since all my mom's brothers and her dad started going bald at 20.

Damn genetics.

Light stuff off the top of my head:

- Weapon/attack damage verbs that do light damage (there's a helpfile out there somewhere that spells out which is what)
- Sunray/Moonbeam
- Prismatic/Color Spray
- I want to say Shadowbane is (not that much casts it at this point)
- Light of Heaven might be, I can't remember for 100% sure.

Maybe light of heaven commune and one or two others are light to?
And there might even be some weapons made of light I think, but I am not sure. Usually light attacks from weapons are diamond or crystal though, so don't take that as fact. I only know a few weapons that do it, though there is a pally commune that can make a physical weapon switch to searing light attacks (or wrath / divine power)
Lightforge just seems like it would be made of light is all.

I also had no idea they had the resistance. Cats eyes are rather light sensitive, but I suppose having fur all over your body shields them from light. Sort of makes sense

When I made those pages I was using the help files as a reference. Indeed, HELP FELAR says they are resistant to light.

As far as I can tell, both the website and the help file are accurate.

As for "What is light?", you may find this helpful:

Since before I immed, so probably as long as they've existed.

It's strange to think that I started playing before felar were in the game, now.

Was their light resistance ever mentioned in the felar help file? Because I've never, ever heard this.

I remember felar being resistant to light, remembered thinking it was a typo or waste of time back then (even though i know it's not)
