#37230, "Apt Learner Edge"
|
I have 20/23 wis/int, and I have the edge 'Apt Learner' since 3 levels ago. Every level gain, I gained only 3% in a skill. Is that normal for a human mage with Apt Learner? 3% is what I gain without Apt Learner.

You get more, but it's still random.
IIRC, your 3% post-edge gains would be 2% without it.

I had it on a gnome early as can be once, it's pretty sweet 4 and 5% gains I think I was getting with it, I was pretty happy with it for it being a fairly cheap edge. So if you get it as your earliest edge with a lot of exploring early on it's sweet, especially if you are a char with A good role, and lots of Good roles entries, Emphasis on the good, meaning they are good in expanding your story, and not in just telling the imms hey throw me a bone here. I think it was Tlingit I had it on from an early time, and I'd watch skills fly up. But if you had it on say a Gnome invoker it would be invaluable.

but the apt learner edge just increases the chances of getting your maximum % gain when ranking. Meaning you will more often get the 3% instead of the 1 or 2% you may occassionally get.

I had it gain me 4% occasionally with a felar (20 wis), and when it didn't, I got 3%, never less.

So with a fire giant with 17 wisdom and this edge I was seeing 2-4%, over the 1-3% I would see before it. This can be extremely beneficial if you don't have the patience to spam particularly difficult skills, i.e flurry/riposte as a giant. Also... it helps on any immexp you're handed out, as you traditionally get a bonus on that as well, I think it's one bonus to % per 500 immexp.
