I think I will be gutted about this but I made an arial bard, have a nice role set up etc and played it to 25 but was the role was always about being a dancer rather than a singer.

At 25, (I know I should have done it earlier), I checked the prereq for dancer and saw charisma as a criterion of the edge. I guess that counts arials out?

Just looking for a bit of conformation to see if I can rescue 30+ hours played and change a role slightly.

Annoyingly I was gonna do a wood-elf but changed my mind to arial for role purposes.

I think an Imm knows best, but if the edge is discussed and he does respond with what you need, that means you CAN learn it. Otherwise the guildmaster would say you will never be able to learn it (because one of the stats listed your race will never have high enough). That he tells you the requirements means you have the capacity to learn it, and that's what you need.

Dancer requires a capella %, dex, charisma, I always saw it available around rank 30 when I got a capella to about 85%. And I believe every bard can take this edge. That is has a requirement does not mean that every bard does not meet it. The charisma needed might be 18.

I did a role as a dancer with a bard in the 4th age. I aliased all my songs so I did an emote xyz;sing. Then I changed up some of them to match the song. When you have the dancer edge, it always says dance to accompany the song unless you have an affect which prevents it from firing or your movement is too low, so I did away with them, but the edge does add a little RP element to singing which I thought was a nice little addition.

And all bards sing. Dancers just dance as they sing.

Thank you for the response. I will get to 30 now and see how it works out. Quick question for you, as a user of the edge....

Did minus dex effects prevent you dancing if you had enough plus dex to offset it?

Thanks

I'm not sure if you can dance with 3 dex if you have the edge, I never got that low, but I believe what matters is the nature of the maladiction. Oddly enough, not every maladict will hinder your ability to dance even though it has a - dex attribute. Drunk doesn't. Impale doesn't. Boneshatter doesn't. Slow does. Hamtring does. Hobble I think does. Entwine might.

Also, if you have max dex, you still can't dance, it is the presence of the effect that matters.

It's been a while since I've looked to remember the list of what does and does not make you unable to dance, but I believe so long as you do not have certain maladicts you can dance, even with 3 dex. But find someone who has the edge, and they can probably tell you better.
