I love the change and think its been a long time coming. But can you guys change it so mobs do not obtain benefit from illusionary equipment?
As in damage type, being able to use spec skills, being able to zap yada yada yada. Anyway just a thought.

You know if you want to rank on spirits, say, you can just sac the real swords. Then they'll always come back with real swords, and you can always disarm them.

If you are trying to kill a mob to see if it will have the real gear when it comes back, you're only having to deal with the illusion once.

Also, you get bonus exp because the mob is specced. So it doesn't feel that unreasonable that you should have to deal with the spec. (See earlier point about saccing real weapons etc. so they don't come back with illusions.)

In the best possible world, illusionary gear would work identically to real gear except for the fact that you couldn't wear or use it. That is to say you could disarm a mob's illusionary weapon and it would pick it up and re-wield if able. You would be able to sacrifice or pick up the disarmed weapon, etc.

Just as "spec'd mob without weapon" is probably weaker than the mob's xp value would indicate, "spec'd mob with a nodisarm weapon" is probably stronger than its xp value would indicate.

Then you don't have to deal with the illusionary one.

It's impossible to make illusory weapons behave like real ones, unless you create new ones on the mob each time the area resets. Otherwise you disarm the illusionary weapon, sac it and if you don't kill it the mob is left with... nothing?

>Then you don't have to deal with the illusionary one.

Some mobs have limited weapons that are on some PC. Usually not ranking mobs, sure.

>It's impossible to make illusory weapons behave like real
>ones, unless you create new ones on the mob each time the area
>resets. Otherwise you disarm the illusionary weapon, sac it
>and if you don't kill it the mob is left with... nothing?

Typically if you're disarming a mob and sacrificing its weapon it means you're going to kill that mob. If you don't, then I could imagine the respawn process being extended such that it re-equips mobs with illusionary weapons when they lack theirs.

I mean...it would undoubtedly be a huge pain to code, and not worth it, but it would make mob strength more consistent.

But I left it too long before thinking the same thing.
