#35715, "Masochist's Endurance"
|
I was trying to take this edge, and it seems like the "masochism" prerequisite would be silly, since 25 con is much more useful at level 35 than at 46, so I was wondering if this edge actually requires masochism the skill, or if it just needs you to be a shig-ru (and have masochism available). I realize it is expensive, so it is certainly possible I just don't have enough points to see it, but I wanted to make sure before I spent more time exploring.

Just so you know...
Masochist's Endurance prerequisites Skill : masochism
Bloodmage's Cunning prerequisites Skill : fetish
You will need to gain more levels to learn this edge.
All of the others indicate more levels as well, but not endurance.

Then you need to raise your masochism skill since you already meet the level requirement. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

It requires a higher level than you probably are.

Doesn't discuss prereq usually tell you if you aren't high enough level? I thought it did. It really seems like the kind of edge that you would want to take as early as possible. I am level 35, but if it is something I can't take until 46, well I'm not sure of the point and I'll probably choose other edges. Basically I just want to try and make an informed decision.

You can't take it until later, and it's designed with that in mind. Whether or not you see it as valuable to you I can't say.

Ok, but I'm not sure there is enough information in the help
file or elsewhere to actually make any sort of informed
decision. Much like Bloodmage's Cunning, I can see where 16
int and 17 wis would be useful for mana gains at 35, but I
can't see how it is useful at level 46. Str and Dex are easy,
but there is precious little information about these two
"very expensive" edges to go on.
I'll just play it out and take it if I can when I can I guess.

Having a higher max con means you heal faster. It also likely
interacts with some of the shig-ru skills and it has effects
on things like boneshatter and rot.
Pushing up you int helps you make save vs spell and save vs
song.
etc.

With the way con is affected by death a character get's weaker
and weaker as they get older.
So increasing your max con means next to nothing.
By the time Gutluk get's there he's going to have maybe 15 con
left.
Yeah yeah, he can carry a suitcase full of plus con gear.
Lame.

Except now with gear he can go to a higher stat level.
I think there is only one group of people who should ever
worry about low con and that is villagers. That is partly
because
A.) They actually tend to play out characters even after their
con drops below 50% of their racial max.
and
B.) Unless they are a defender they can't compensate using
slow/healing options.
Anyone who is not in the village should have no problem
compensating through easy to get assistance in the form of
healers and preps. By the time you are low enough on con to
need these things they should be rather trivial to acquire and
that is assuming you don't bother to toss on a piece of con
gear or two. And honestly people delete as they get low on
con but not because of the healing rate its usually because
they tend to be frustrated with losing a lot.

To more losses thus causing recovery to be even slower and
contributing to the chances of another loss.
And as he pointed out, you get the things needed for the extra
Con way late in the orcs life. Making it seem like a waste of
edge points to me.

You spam my twitter with deaths and I've taken a con from you
so you come to my mind as someone who's character has to be
wasting trains or suffering ####ty hp gains.
