How important is a broad vocabulary and a concise writing style?

If the answer is: very, I don't suppose that's really fair for the ESL guys. Being concise is about knowing the right word for the right situation, and, ESL guys just simply might not know it, which would result in overly long descriptions.

Or ... how do you perceive, and handle, this sort of thing?

Giant lose family mage
giant fineded sword
giant smashed
giant still smashing
giant keep smashing

As long as I can understand what the person is talking about, it doesn't matter in the least. That's really the important thing, for me. I don't care if it is poor English or if it lacks fancy words at all.
