#35065, "Deathblow Question (s)"

If I'm fishing for too much here, and the answer is "I don't really want to get into the specifics because that'd encourage number crunching/spam/etc", I totally understand.

That said, I'm curios what goes into the (code?) that decides what deathblow progs on.

Things I know that trigger db:
-Pugil
-Slice
-Backstab
-Backfist
-Regular melee hits

Things I know that don't trigger db:
-Any spec skills
-Generic Lagging skills (bash/trip)
-Assassin kicks

Thing's I'm not sure about:
-Other non class-specific skills (knee/kick/elbow)

So what decides it? I've never seen something like kick/knee do it, but how do they defer from either backfist (with the exception of one being automatic), or slice/pugil (also non class-specific, but they use weapons).

Thank you team Imm. I know you guys work your asses off, and I really appreciate it.

Teh Treebeard

The rule is that spec skills don't trigger db, with some exceptions. You listed:

Things I know that trigger db:
-Pugil
-Slice
-Backstab
-Backfist
-Regular melee hits

Additions:
charge
charge set

In general, the db'able skills have their own rules for calculating damage. i.e. with db backstab, you don't get deathblow multiplier on the full db damage.. its more like a regular deathblow. You used to get ridiculous damage on deathblow charge/charge sets, but I think thats no longer the case.

But there is no common denominator i have seen as to what can db and what cant.. have to know it on a case by case basis.

But doesn't remove the problem fully. It's still possible for me to figure out that it's a Marcus post, although not as easily as before.
