There needs to be a new skill in this path and the cost of various other skills adjusted accordingly.

Let me explain.

To get anything done as a poisoner in the low levels without weapon nick or grenade, you need to use 'plant' which is a pickpocket skill.

While you can do some really nasty and creative things with mind control poison, it isn't worth the effort versus reward ration when people are spamming 'inventory' in their sleep.

Rather than ask to change 'inventory' so it doesn't work when you're asleep like it's been or about 15 years, let's just add a skill called 'apply adhesive'.

This skill works like the invoker skill 'web' but with only one item.

And that means that you can force people to have to actually put up with the effects of what you're trying to get them to ingest rather than work out elaborate schemes to drop what you're giving them.

'apply adhesive' will also work on weaponry, for obvious reasons, and it will allow the poisoner to also temporarily create nodisarm weapons, at the cost of -3 dexterity for wielding these weapons for either the victim or the thief or the thief's accomplices. This 'nodisarm' isn't perfect, in fact it will work a whole lot less than fist of the titans, and anyone over a certain strength threshold will be able to get rid of it from the wielder using any disarm skill anyway, without making an opposing strength check unless the disarm skill itself has it built in.

Can't you just write a macro to hit them with

plant bread
suggest eat bread

all at once, rather than plant ahead of time and wait for them to wake up?

Otherwise, in a path that is way expensive, and really requires plant on top of that, I think an "apply adhesive" skill would be cool, if not taking the fun away from knowing about good cursed sucky items to make the target hold.

Anyone spamming 'drop 1.' when they wake up, is going to win the spam war even if the poisoner uses a macro like that, assuming the poisoner has pulled the trick once on them.

Typically the way to avoid this is to avoid using KO poison entirely, plant your trap during combat or a raid when they are otherwise preoccupied and then pray you can apply it before they are busy fleeing, or they don't notice it while resting while you do your work.

This basically creates a spam war between the victim and the user which not only relies on connection speeds but is generally a pretty gay way to design any ability or interaction between players. At least chasing requires thought, this is who is spamming the 'enter' key quicker and who didn't typo.

One could argue that this removes a ton of survivability on the part of the victim depending on what the poisoner can find in terms of area knowledge. I'll counter with:

Poisoners take a huge hit to direct combat ability to get up to mind control poison no matter what you do. You need plant, period, unless you plan on using grenades primarily.

Poisoners are the buggiest class in the game even this many years after implementation, with bugs working both for and against their favor.

Poisoners also require the most concentrated gold flow in the game with thief guild + class skills. They require more gold than your run of the mill thief or your run of the mill Imperial or Imperial Shadow to keep running. The only thing that is going to require more gold to operate daily than your run of the mill poisoner thief, is a guilded Shadow poisoner thief. You don't spend as much time getting gold as a poisoner as you do sleeping as a conjurer but the comparison is pretty solid.

I understand the argument for anyone playing any thief class to be both quick and clever, but this is ridiculous given what you sacrifice to have this kind of utility, which is directly related to the creativity of the player using it, not even actual player skill. This is a great way to design a class until it comes down to the spam wars.
