#33699, "So how much to you think OOC connections influence the game?"
|
It's seems apparent the same people end up with good things early in the game.
I've had my share of lucky pit loots, but it seems a bit much to me that you have people who seem to talk the same and follow the same ranking , practicing patterns often decked to the gills in good gear.

FWIW I just got a full set of midnight dragon gear on a level 15 guy. I got it by spam tripping some dude who had it.

I can't recall a character of mine who hasn't had it.
I don't even consider that as good gear. To me that's the next step up from fine leathers.

they just make IC friends easily, or they hang out in ranking areas and wait for people to get killed/disarmed (mobs don't corpseguard), or maybe they just take advantage of their cabals pit, or maybe, and just maybe, there is a huge conspiracy of cheaters who play this game, it is in fact EVERYONE except you, and the entire point of the game is to be mean to you.
If the same people tend to do better than you early on, maybe you should assume they don't have the same ranking and practicing patterns you do.
I run healers, so I just heal high ups in my cabal and they give me love. I also tell jokes.

I never said never. I said you are paranoid throwing stones at people who don't deserve it. Do I know people who play this game ooc? Yes. Do I play with them? Not very often. I get a lot of ims from old buddies who want a pocket healer and I don't do it very often. Once in awhile someone talks me into rolling one, but if I do I play my own times, and generally don't wind up grouping with them very much. It would in fact, be hard to name a single perma that I was involved in, because I just grouped with whoever was around and almost never knew who they were at the time (Apparently I wind up grouped with isildur with most of my characters, but I've never spoken to them in an ooc environment).
Also, since I pretty much only play healers, I'm under even more imm scrutiny than most of your characters, so your argument is kinda baseless.
Could I cheat? Hell yes. Do I? Very seldom. When I come back after a long haitus I find myself asking friends over icq things like 'Uuuuh, what are edges? How do I get them?' so I can get up to speed. (Still won't play mages because I don't want to learn about wands) If I was using ooc connections to get gear, Fezzle would have never been without a staff of striking.
Just because you rolled a character who acted just like your last one, and I didn't like them and didn't induct them is not grounds to beleive I'm a cheater.
Now is the part where he says I doth protest too much or something, or maybe the 'liars girding themselves with seeming truths' thing. That was the thread where he said I posted on death threads I never posted on. The fact is you are just acting on spite and frustration. I never did anything to you that you didn't deserve.

I've been scarce for a couple days, but scrolling down a bit, you're picking fights with everyone, making an 'enemies' list of people you don't pay attention to (*), accusing specific players (as well as players in general) of cheating for reasons that are ridiculous even by your legendary standards (**), and otherwise mucking up the board.
(*): Typing it out on multiple posts, is, of course a passive-aggressive way of paying attention to them.
(**): Thank you for the note to all Immortals about the guy who has been level 6 for "too long". In the future, please ask yourself "What rule is this person possibly breaking?" If the answer is "I don't even know", the entire staff does not require a note. Or multiple prays. Or OOC complaining to the person in question via tell.

But I would bet money that some people cheat with lowbie characters, leaving them at major intersections and having them look at everyone who passes by. I tested this with one recently in market square and he looked at me instantly every time I walked into the room. I walked in and out a good 20 times and he looked at me a good 20 times. Not going to happen through normal play.
So it might be worth watching out for that sort of thing.

In that case the answer to "what rule is this guy breaking?" is that he's clearly botting. That warrants a pray to turn him in so the imms can take a look.

Back when FTA was around, I recall some pretty elaborate schemes to avoid getting caught.
I gotta say, not my proudest CF time, but some of those guys went on to Imm, and are still Imms but I recall clearly the day one of them sent a letter that pretty much said, "What the #### are we doing? violating our own values over a game. We're better than that."
And Oreo was right and the group disbanded.
But the Diku crew didn't and others formed.

I think he's saying that your dark past is haunting you now that you think you've redeemed yourself, and you see cheating everywhere. Even where it isn't.
You like to respond by saying 'you just proved I'm right' a lot. You seem to think it actually makes it seem like you're winning an argument. It doesn't.
In one of your more recent assplosions Twist responded thusly
FYI Pro, your char was a mere 3 days old at the time this took place.
Over that very short time span, you prayed about four people you were sure were cheating. One because, in your words, he was "too distracted, like he's talking to someone else."
That's more than one cheating allegation per day.
You also wrote a note that was borderline stupid, about some player who "Has been level 6 forever and just shows up and vanishes."
I am really inclined to say that you're being paranoid, whinny, and acting out.

It used to be a lot more popular but it's still possible. Just run around eastern/galadon/hamsah/balator around level 11 and eventually someone dies and you can grab 1-2 things or more if it's a group fight.
The problem these days is honestly not the corpse guarding but the lack of people to make it worth it to wait. You could always just work on skills and bash one of the vultures down.

Because by and large most people tend to guard their kills, making a full grab all but impossible.

This is what I've taken to doing. Hero shapeshifters can usually get places fast, kill mobs easily and often aren't doing much but farting around. They're usually pretty happy to help you.
Also, lots of characters will get you a bunch of good gear for a pretty low price. If you know how to put together 20 gold, you can get a decent midbie set at 11, if you want to.
