I just started to play new char and going to sit on low-midranks a bit for him. But it really tiring to sleep A LOT. I dont really care what your statistic says, but so far (little ranking, lots of wandering around searching for enemies) I spend good half of my time just sleeping. It really kills the fun. Please please please make it regen faster until 25th lvl

Whoops, meant to be in the topic below, was not going to start a new thread.

I'd say if you really don't like sleeping, you shouldn't pick a character that's dumb but wants to use a lot of mana.

Just like if you don't want to interact with immortals you shouldn't pick an empowerment class, if you want to do a lot of solo PK you shouldn't pick a healer, etc.

Is mv regen naturally based on dex (IE: moving, speed, etc), or on con (stamina, marching, etc)?

Specifically, players enjoy the opportunity to catch opponents unaware. Also, movement exhaustion puts a cap on how aggressive one can be in moving from place to place. It creates a tactical choice between alertness and speed of recovery, etc. It creates strategic options in terms of gear-- items that assist movement recovery vs. items that have other desirable properties. Remove movement points, and everyone can be alert 24/7 unless forcibly slept.

It's similar to food. Food (for some characters) creates a cap on how long you can remain in a remote location, allows the creation of abilities like Famish or various thief poisons, forces choices between self-reliance (tons of food, just in case) and carried weight, etc.

Choices are interesting.

I played a warrior recently who did a lot of PKing sub 30, and I probably went through 10 gold per session on refreshes. You're not supposed to be able to search every plausible ranking area for a target, for example, as quickly as you can type the directions. If you're constantly looking for enemies, chasing targets, running patrols, etc., it's entirely fair for you to need to either sleep a lot or burn tons of coin/barters.

Exploration for movement points and a tiny bit of +mv from equipment wouldn't hurt either.

Money is your friend, along with easy-to-get items you can barter for "heal refresh". Also questy boots.

Or you could play a class with pathfinding, or maybe a chaotic outlander.

It seems intentional that low/mid ranked characters aren't able to travel the world near-nonstop like heros can. But, with enough gold & barter items you can make it work.

Failure should be just as interesting as success.

I suggest changing the state of sleep to either 1) a state of lethargy that allows enough risk-taking actions for the game to still be fun or 2) an independent mode of gameplay in which the rewards for success are applied to your character's ghost when you die and the costs of failure are applied to your character upon waking.

Furthermore, I think Seantryn Modan must be destroyed.

Nepenthe was asking in the other thread why more people don't spend time in the midlevels. Dervish is giving a great reason why from first hand experience as to why he doesn't enjoy spending time in the midlevels trying to pk.

The other thread is filled with really good reasons why people don't spend time in the midlevels too. The ball is in the Imms' court, though I expect it to take a few years before things are fixed. CF is blindingly fast at fixing bugs; dreadfully slow at coming to design decisions.

If you're playing a character that can use town healers, then I don't see the situation at mid-ranks as being that much worse than the situation at hero ranks. At mid-ranks you just spend your gold on different "stuff".

Instead of blowing gold on pills, stoneskin and "heal heal" at the healer you're blowing it on "heal refresh" instead.

Full fine leather and questy boots will let you run around a lot. Get some good weapons and you should be good to go

If your only reason for wanting mv regen pre-25 is so you can check Akan without having to sleep for 20 minutes each way, then you're not getting better MV regen.

If it was something basic like exploration or ranking that's one thing, but if you want to PK and you need the MV regen you keep your fine leathers + traveler's rings in a sack, set up an alias to swap out the whole set of gear, and then wear that when you need to sleep for MV's. They'll be back in 3 or 4 ticks, then you swap back to your pk gear.

Is it an optimal solution? No. That's why you barter junk for mv's or check protected cities for refresh preps. (the healer being the far better option)

MV's are fine right where they are at pre-25.

... It's a choice. A choice of tactics.

Mobility or killerability.

Really, it's the same thing as asking for +hit/dam/str/dex/saves/hp/mana on all gear since if you focus on one most likely the rest will suck.

It's about the choices, tactical choices.

Always shoot first and then call whatever you hit the target.

There are lots of low level things you can wear which give sizable boosts to fatigue recovery as well, and they can be be gotten by 15 if not earlier. You wear two or three such items (all of which have other perks) to boost fatigure recovery 30% and move should never be a problem for you, and they have other perks as well in terms of their stats.

Or just wear it before you sleep to regen move, and wear your "other stuff" the rest of the time. I still think "earning gold and spending it liberally on heal refresh" is the way to go, though, if your character's RP permits that.
