#28207, "I don't usually complain"
|
But I just deleted a character Mreash that I felt really positive about. I buy the pbf and I see 7 imm comments in 500 hours, half of which are negative and sarcastic. Only one comment about how I carried the cabal for a period and showed up to defend against any odds. I get comments from Nep making me sound like the lowbie imperials that follow cabal fights looting everything in sight. You know what, if you are going to have a cabal then have someone watch it properly or don't bitch when a mortal takes the reins in hand, and then knock everything they do. I would point out that 99% of the mortals that interacted with me saw a great character. Nep I've never had a problem with you before, but you can bite my ass, I'm taking a break.

I may or may not have gotten any (all of my possibly-negative comments are from "an immortal" from him specifically, but reading those funny digs is pretty much the only reason I look at or want to buy PBFs. If you got any recognition during your character's life be happy with that. Why does it matter if nep makes some little comments that you don't like?

With four of those seven comments you were given exp. Thus, those cannot be the negative ones. One of the three comments was Iunna mentioning that you asked to be harbingerified. Only the two Daevryn comments had a negative tone in them. 2/7 is closer to quarter than half.

You know, sometimes that's just the luck of the draw, especially when your cabal is really hurting at the moment for active imm time. It isn't like I don't have characters whose comments look something like that.
Beyond that:
- I stand by the early life looting thing; I saw a bit of it and I'd heard several people comment about it on CBs in that era. That was also December and you generally grew beyond it.
- Several of the PBF comments are comments as you were given role XP. I haven't read the whole role and you'll have to take that up with whoever read those chapters, but that's what that person(s) got out of them.
- I stand by the inducting thing, too. You inducted a good Outlander about an hour after Calue was on. That's not what you're supposed to be doing, and it wasn't the first time.
- Generally I thought Mreash had a good interview process, but I didn't comment on that. I'm not an Outlander imm and I tend to notice the bad things on not-my kids more than the good things.

In Mreash's defense, the Sunwarden had not been active much at all over the last 2-3 weeks. In fact, I personally thought he was on his way to Auto-ing.
50+ hours of playing is a long time for someone to stay pledged and active with no response from Immortals or Leaders. I think that particular character was about to toss it in because of the lack of response.

If you con die, I'm betting you'll still have played 250-300 hours. If you age die, well, I'm not even going to comment on how small a fraction 50 hours is on an age death.
If you're deleting? What did it matter anyhow?

The more experienced you are, the easier it is to survive waiting to join outlanders. You need to know alot of preps you can get for free or barter for at least. I think Battle would be way tougher.
That said, the game really takes off once your in a cabal. Its a little on the lonely and dull side before that. If it were up to me, induction would occur alot soon then ranks 30-40 (50~ hours) but that would most likely waste alot of the leaders time with throw away characters. The additions of Pledge and such have helped alot, however, I wish there would also be a pledge channel (with on and off options), where full members can listen in and chat with potential applicants and applicants can chat with each other.
All that said...
I am also kinda suprised that after all those hours, that the Imms didn't manage to realize that perhaps Mreash's player, constantly taking the time out of his fun to interview all those applicants was something they should have been thankful and rewarded him for. You know, instead of forcing them to do it or having people delete out of fustration, or more likely so the cabal's sunwarden branch and reaver branch didn't end like scion did not too long ago.
I do feel what Mreash did for the outlander cabal was truely under appreciated by Imms. I can understand if Calue was right there but on the other hand i can also understand why he still would, i'll just leave it at that.
