#28162, "Marketing with flyers."
|
It would be nice to have a growing playerbase.
I was thinking of getting some flyers together and throwing em up around colleges in my area. I think there is a good chance we could improve the amount of players this way.
Does anyone have experience of resources for this advertising?

Printed out about 50 of each flyer we have available, and went around sticking, stapling, handing out, etc. to as many people/areas as I could.
I can't tell you if it actually had an effect or not, but I did get a good bunch of flyers out there.
Now, hopefully you're not me - I think I wierded a few people out with the whole vigilante regalia. Sure, they took the paper, but they were more interested in my mask than the material.
Either way
GOOD LUCK

I did some advertising last year for Humans Vs. Zombies in a monkey suit. I handed out quartersheet flyers that said:
"Like Nerf Guns? Play Humans Vs. Zombies Informational Meeting: Atrium 9pm September 9th"
I just hooted and growled and generally acted like a monkey, handed out flyers, and got a remarkably awesome turnout. And no, monkeys have nothing to do with Humans Vs. Zombies.
It comes down to the fact that college campuses are media-saturated, so students are used to filtering out anything that doesn't immediately concern their next bio lecture. This makes advertising on a college campus somewhat difficult. The answer is to do things that they can't or are less likely to ignore. Splntrd

It's not like he could go out as *HIS SUPER SECRET IDENTITY* and hand them out.

We need to work on the fliers. I was hoping some of you had came up with better fliers than those vague ones.
It takes so little effort to market compared to some of the other stuff that is done around here. I guess I'll lead the charge.
Does anyone else have experience with what to put on flyers for college campuses?

Most college campuses have computer labs or libraries that allow their users to print up to X number of pages for free. If they're anything like my campus, you can probably print more than that and get away with it. Usually if you're not a student you can get a guest pass. Do all of your printing free, and save your money for staples.
As a student on a media-saturated campus who happens to do a lot of advertising this way, I would suggest printing in relief; black background, white text. It'll stand out better from the hundreds of other flyers around campus. Splntrd
