#27920, "Anti ganging in cabal raids."
|
I had this interesting thought today about raid situations. Sometimes you are the only guy in a down cabal, and you are stuck defending your item against 5 players from an enemy cabal. It creates a situation where people don't want to play because you are guaranteed to be outnumbered and itemless. It's really hard to get anything done, especially if you are Battle.
What if the game checked a certain number of factors like how many heroes are in your cabal, how many enemies you have, how alone you are, how many people are raiding - and then the cabal healer responded accordingly. Like, let's say you are the ONLY battle guy, and a team of 6 Imperials are raiding. Maybe the healer could toss out more healing, or double block you, or sanc you or something.
How much help he gave would be up to team gamebalance. Maybe he could even throw out useful sups even when you aren't being raided if that seems balanced.
Is this a good idea?

This is a very mixed bag.
You'll never find a rager getting sanctuary from the healer in the village ever. I think that's something that everyone will agree with.
Insofar as playing when the odds are against you, it's the players who do this consistently that usually do and rightfully should, gain the notice of the Immstaff and generally speaking prove to be a greater influence on all parties involved. That being said, you don't have to stay and defend when you know that the defense is essentially suicide.
At least that's my understanding of any cabal. Granted, in most cases you can at least present a token defense before hightailing it, but it has always made more sense to me to counter raid your enemy when they're headed your way, than it does to stay and die senselessly which doesn't do anything for your cabal and only strengthens and emboldens your enemies.
The anti-ganging code is probably the most you'll see put towards addressing something like this because it's meant to address this kind of situation and in most cases, (granted ragers have it rougher than most everyone else) the choice to fight or not to fight is always in your own hands.
That being said, I'm sure that if you have actual constructive ideas or plausible methodology by which these sorts of things can be addressed everyone is apt to listen to good ideas. Having the interior throw a random heal here or there in truth, (in a 6 on 1 situation) is not going to alter the end result in most cases.
